Golf course be damned... these people are going to live the way they want, and where they want.
Unbeleivable

The De Medeiros children peer outside of the windows of their home because playing in the yard is too dangerous, and when the family steps foot outside of their townhouse they have their eyes on the sky, ready to dodge dangerous projectiles.
They don’t live in a war zone – they live next to the Credit Valley Golf Course in Mississauga.
“Balls come right from the golf course into our backyard, they also come directly right over the house,” mother Sharon De Medeiros explained.
While kids across the city turn their backyards into miniature baseball diamonds and homemade water parks, the De Medeiros’ lawn is usually empty. About 100 of the dimpled balls fall into both their front and back yards on an average week, and the children’s parents are afraid a hard small orb will hit one of the youngsters.
“If the ball has enough force to shatter a windshield, what it could do to a child if it hits them in the head – it could kill them,” dad John De Medeiros said.
The father has good cause for concern, he’s been hit, his mother has been struck, and one of the dreaded balls even collided with the family dog. And the projectiles aren’t only hitting people and pets - they’re cracking windows and causing damage to cars.
Another couple from Etobicoke in the same situation successfully sued the golf course beside their home.
The Housing Co-Op Board has distributed petitions, written letters and held meetings about the issue, and the golf course has said it will pay damages, but not much else has been done.
Marinus Gerritsen was recently named the new general manager of the course and he has plans to fix the problem by moving the tee-off.
“Maybe we’ll know some more in about two or three months,” he said.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the changes will happen until next season and the De Medeiros family will be playing dodge ball for the rest of the summer.
Gerritsen plans to meet with the Co-op in the next few days, but if nothing comes of it, they may take legal action.

Unbelievable |
What are your thoughts if its true that 100+ golf balls in fact do land in their backyard in any given week.
To me, that seems like a fairly high number.... I am not positive that I feel that her issue is entirely ridiculous.
I'm curious to get your point of view. |

| I'm willing to bet that the course was built after the house, in which case, I blame the course designer... |

| Why don't they have one of those big screens put up just beyond their property line like that gigantic driving range right downtown has? |

Then dumbass should have thought of that before building/buying the house next to the course. |

It's reasonable to think that the home is far enough from the course that it wont affect them too much.
Regardless of whose fault it is, or who was there first, flying golf balls are pretty deadly if they hit your head in the right spot. |

obviously its not reasonable because it's affecting them. And yes flying golf balls are a hazard which is why the RESIDENTS should pay for netting an barriers and have them installed on their own property. After all, they chose the golf course, not the other way around. |
