Full Moon Party- Thailand

| I was just wondering if anyone has ever been to the full moon party on koh pangang in Thailand. Its amazing its a party of about 5,000-10,000 people every full moon on the beach. Each bar has its own style of music with resident and guest DJs. drugs a highly illegal there but are still easy to find one bar actually sells shroom shakes. Drink buckets of Thai Redbull and Thai whisky. it was one of the gratest nights of my life. Thailand ing rocks. |

| Never been to thailand, I heard its pretty sweet though. It was "their destiny" in Waterworld.. it must have some sort of intl appeal |

| yah i was there 2 months and met maybe 5 other americans (after all we are all pussies who cant travel any where except europe) every one was european, isralie, or austrailan. |

| I went in 2002. Quality though I was bolloxed on those buckets of whiskey and 7up. I went while on holiday in Koh Samui, and it was probably one of the best 2 weeks of my life! |

But anyway it's a simple matter to go. You don't have to go there for a full moon party tour etc. What I did while I was there was took a holiday in Koh Samui which is a much larger island about 50mins speedboat ride from Koh Phangan.
We stayed in Koh Samui and took a boat trip to the party, there is no entry fee, you just have to get there. There are lots of tour agents in Samui and I am sure in other Thailand cities, so just go to Thailand for a holiday and they will help you make arrangements to get to and from the Full Moon Party.
It is all pretty amateur-ish though, yet cheap.
There are also hotels on Koh Phangan so you can just book your holiday and stay there for the night, if available. |

Sounds awesome! Thailand has been on one of my "to do" lists. I had a friend who just got back from Tokyo, so in the back of my mind it's definately possible!! I'm thinking next year.

The beauty about Thailand is you can go there with just the clothes on your back and within 30min of arival in bankok get every thing you need. To plan a trip all you need is a plane ticket, about $800, thats if you want to live the high life, and a lonly planet type book. just go to Koh San Road in bankok and you can get it all. you ca book a night train and mini bus taxi that will get you to any where in thailand. in any city you go you'll find travel agent selling tours of some sort and gesthouses that have rooms for about $3-10 a night. I stayed on a Beach for 2 weeks called tong noi pan yi, just on the other side of the island of Hat Rin (the party beach) i had a hut that was literaly on the sand for about $40 for the 2 weeks. it was amazing. Kho samui is cool but its way more doveloped and less bohemian. just do it, its not hard at all. i went both times alone for 1 month at a time. the first time i went was the first time i ever left the country. its so easy. just do it.
