It takes forever for them to hit audible range over distance. So 8s and 10s are optimal for sound quality, 12s for sound and feel and 15s are for disney land rides.

Tx for advice. I'll go for two more 12's. As soon as I got some f*cking time off for a change to spend my damn money....

Run of the mill , get anything. Subs and amps push the sound.

i enjoyed the kenwood excelon series. There are many expensive brands like boston acoustics, infinity, etc...i just found it nice to have something with a mid that had a tweeter on the bridge for range. Seperate tweets are better...but youre ting me if you can hear it in one car, then one day hop into another car and actually be able to tell the difference.

i dont know a whole lot about car speakers, what should i look for?
Drifter
well if your looking for splits try to decide between either a soft dome tweeter or a hard dome tweeter, have a budget from there and take a cd, go to car stereo shops and listen...but remember the environment between the speakers on the demo boards will be alot different to in car

1) You are underpowering your system

2) by doing that, you will burn out the voicecoils in your subs. They won't "blow" per se, they will "burn out" and you're ted.

3) you are more likely to destroy a subwoofer by underpowering it than overpowering it.

so basically, you need another amp. Ideally, you want to feed the subs the RMS power rating in total. I haven't looked at your sub specifications, but with 2 10"s and 2 12"s you should ideally be pushing out a minimum 800 watts RMS. With 4 subs, it is possible to use a monoblock amplifier and run all the subs off of that and get the benefits of the amplifier (which are designed to run subwoofers rather than other speakers), rather than buying 2 x 2 channel amps. Bear in mind that an 800 RMS amp will probably cost you a good 400-600 dollars (i'm going by UK values here)

here is an amp that would adequately power all 4 of the subs http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/pro...?product=19590. That amp gives out 1000W RMS at 4ohms i think. It costs 400 pounds which is about 600 dollars.

Also, to run a 4 Sub sound system you will most likely need an extra dedicated battery running on a split charge system to power the system. You will probably need an uprated alternater to crank out enough charge for the battery's to give out a good voltage. And it would help if you had a 1 Farad powercap as well to keep the system in check.

Don't look at peak values, they are bull in the sense that you will not be running that sort of power for a constant amount of time.

Which is why evertime smokeape says "my kid is running 1400W!!!!11!! its sooo loud!!!1!!!" it pisses me off  if your kid has a power output of 1400 W RMS (constant not peak) then that is very respectable and IS very loud and i apologise!

My friends had an old E30 BMW with 4 12" Alpine Type R's in the trunk. His loudest recorded SPL level was 144.6 dB. Now that is loud :D

really like focal speakers for components all depends on how much you wanna spend.

Orbax
as far as looking for something in component speakers... Go round, i dont like ovals. read customer reviews, but realize that speaker size denotes range. a 5 1/4is awesome for trance and rock, but will leave you wanting 6 and 1/2s if you listen to hip hop stuff. I love vocals and high end so I got my 5 1/4s all the way around, a lot of people get highs in front, mid/lows in back. the 6x9s ovals....just a no go for me, I hate them.

i like tweeters attached on the speaker because i can just throw them into the existing pods without too much work. Seperate tweeters mean seperate enclosure unless you ghetto rig it and just have them hanging off the a pillar.

Just read some reviews and check out this for components:

i dunno browse around see what you like :D

and post here before you buy hehe
Mark
you shouldn't be mixing and matching subwoofers especially when they aren't the same sizes.

for speakers, just go to your local audio stores and listen to different sets of speakers and pick the one that sounds best to you in your price range. there's really no other way about it because everyone's ears and tastes are different. i can tell you to get whatever brand speakers but it might sound like to you and vice versa.

i have gone through my fair share of setups with my car and this is the latest one.

now i just gotta warranty my sub amp and swap it with the phoenix gold thats in the car now and all will be good. :D
