Not gonna lie, that comment made me smile. Strange sense of humor, I know, but I smiled nonetheless. :wtf:

I'm guessing that's why after living in Brazil for 45 years and never being robbed once (living in Sao Paulo)my dad got robbed in Buenos Aires, right?!

perhaps its the tourists that get it in brazil?

I dont know....

BA can be dangerous too if you get bad luck.. but i know too many firsthand accounts about sao paolo... im sure other parts of brazil are fine.

^^^ I'm not saying that it's not dangerous... but the way you guys talk seems like everyone that goes down there gets robbed, and that's not exactly true. Nevertheless, i'm glad it's never happened to me anyways.
I lived in Sao Paulo for 10 years, and visited Rio regularly...

don't wear anything that has value nor bring more than 20$ in your pockets... these cities are just ridiculously dangerous.

obviously not... but its definate that brazil is more dangerous.... the tour operators (brazilian) even told us not to go off on our own. I never had those warnings in argentina.

the robbers are smarter than you think, they'll ask you something, like Hi how are you, or where's the bus stop or something really trivial like that, if you hesitate answering because you don't know any portuguese or it doesn't sound from Brazil, then you're basically ed. Its their ways to tell between a local and a tourist.

im the last one to buy into scare tactic hype but ive been there and heard first hand stories from argentines and brits who were robbed... everyone who is a tourist there is a walking real in their eyes.

LOL

I was even told by brazilians that i met that the safest way to travel is through tour companies or with private brazlian friends who can help you get around.

id still go back... if you are careful then usually u are ok.. I think those who get robbed are usually the show offs. If you keep a low profile and stay in groups u are usually ok. That goes for anywhere.

ill never forget the americans in Buenos Aires who were talking loudly in english and yelling at all the girls at 2 am.

there were 2 of them and all i could think about was how they were probably about to get robbed that night.
