Here's my take...(if anyone cares)....
Civilization = emasculation
Why does it seem like becoming more civilized equates with being emasculated. Think about the orgins of man. The hunter, the gatherer. A caveman (if they ever existed) would go out and club a wooly mammoth over the head and drag him back to the cave for his cavewoman and cavekids to enjoy. In the Roman times, men would fight as gladiators, usually to the death. In the wild west, if you ever shamed anyone, you'd fight for your honour in a duel, and the loser would die. Even in the 60's and 70's the men would be the sole provider in a family while the wife stayed home and took care of her family.
Now that we live in this day and age of liberation and equal rights, our roles as men and our sole defining characteristics have been taken away from us because it's deemed as socially unacceptable in this day and age....Now, if someone calls your woman a slut, or tell you that your dead mother sucked donkey balls, it's deemd socially unacceptable to hit them, and I think some people take advantage of that and provoke you. They sit there and antagonize you, because they know that you can't hit them, and if you do, you get charged with assault.
No matter what a woman says, EVERY woman wants a man that's not afraid to open a can of whoop ass if she gets mugged in the street.....Not some pansy that'll try to reason with the assailant or attempt to write him a cheque to leave her alone. |

what some term emasculation...others call evolving into a society that is more civilized, enlightened and reasonable.
cavemen needed to survive on brute strength and instinct...today, people survive on logic and reason...and the ability to adapt to our environment (although we're simultaneously destroying it).
I'm no pansy...but I'll take today's world of law and reason over previous times where "might makes right" ;)
I imagine the ladies of TA will have something to say about all this too :D |

and yes, a woman wants a man but not one that can kick someones ass. one that can fix and open jars is good enough. if someone calls me a slut, i think i can verbally abuse them myself without any problems. |

Do you seriously think that you'd get thrown in maximum security prison for punching some in the face for calling your girlfriend a slut? :D At worst, you'd get a few months probation. Regardless, you're looking at this from the wrong perspective. The REAL question is: if your woman is in need of defense, are you man enough to be there to defend her? |

I'll take it a step further. Women's lib means women have all the advantages of equality but none of it's disadvantages. For example, women make just as much money as men but yet still expect the man to be "traditional" when the bill arrives..
