Show was sweet...

Oakenfold was classic.... see forthcoming apology post...

Hernan was solid, really good set... only saw 45 minutes though...

Sharam was the best.

Cracked... but not broken @ 7:25 AM...

Peace,

agreed. z0mg

my gf and i were right in the front just to the right of the DJ setup and just to the left of the speakers. sooo in insane. i loved the energy of the whole night. hernan rocked it. sharam killed it. oakey pwnd it, although i heard a trainwreck or two :p

my gf, who listens almost completely to country and thought my music was annoying basically loves it now. lmao. not even joking. she's so excited to go to more shows and clubs and whatever.

highlight of the night.... i cant hear out of my right ear very well.. it sounds like i have headphones on that ear.

whatever... wont go into detail but my expectations of the night were matched and greatly exceeded.

EDIT: btw.. i parked all the way over at the hilton. dont ask my why and when i got to the rave he said i couldnt wear my hat so i threw my hat and camera in the bushes. well.. shows over, i come out and i find my camera but no hat. i love my hat. i bought it at the hard rock cafe in orlando. .. that pissed me off:whip:

head......hurts.....ugghhhhh

hernan's set was great from beginning to end.....very chill at the beginning...got everyone stirring with some long breakdowns in the middle...had everyone ready to party at the end. i can't wait to see him again....

sharam's set was excellent...

oakenfold.....i was a little bored at the beginning of his set. midway through i was really going though. i liked his programming, but some of his transitions were even embarrassing to listen to:nervous: "oops....i'm trainwrecking....gotta kill the outgoing track quickly....there....oops, the bass isn't in on the new track...there we go...fixed it" i still had a great time during his set.

overall, it was a better show than i expected....there were some issues of hearing DJs in the next room when you didn't want to hear them....and i hate drinking out of plastic cups all night, but people were generally courteous on the dancefloor and there was a good vibe for sure. :)

it was cool bumping into RJT and Zack and nice to meet lucid and glass! too bad we couldn't really chill until the show was almost over....

Time for sleep...

That's how I felt. I was watching from above for the first 5 songs or so, and then this tune comes on that just beckons me to the dance floor. The rest was just bangin. Very good set from him. The mixing wasn't bad at all, sure there were a few slip ups. It was actually Hernan that I was surprised with, though. There were a couple of times when I heard some Oakenfold worthy transitions from him. I felt that was odd considering his style, deep, smooth, prog, would require smooth transitions no? Anyways, he was a good warm-up DJ. Sharam was very good, excellent mixing. However, I did feel he favored the breakdowns a little too much.

I went to scope out Fergie and the man was hammering some really fun stuff. I believe Hernan should have been in the Vibe room, where Fergie was, and Fergie should have been in the big room. It was a bit too loud in the Vibe room to begin with and with the stuff Fergie was playing I couldn't spend more than 15 minutes in that tiny room.

Anybody hear some good amateurs? There where these two guys, looked early twenties or so, in the bar room at around 10:30 or so, that were playing some pretty good stuff. However one of the guys, who was wearing a baseball cap was throwing in these effects and scratching like he was the next Zabiela. Could've done without a nice tune being interupted by him deciding to throwing in an ear numbing effect. Everyone else seemed very unimpressive. I see how much talent is on the amateur dj forum here, and then I go to an event like this and not only do I not see better djs, but I see far worse ones. It seemed like every had a stiffy for dnb, which the crowd was completely unresponsive to, aside from your candy ravers. There was one guy who popped on that Roxburry song. At least that was good for a chuckle, good to see a DJ with a sense of humor. All in all, I would say it was a good night, good times.

overall i thought it was a pretty sweet show.

idk how many of you were there for jack trash and the beginning of hernan but for awhile the bass was terrrrrible. it was killing everything. my friend and i waited around for the sound guy for like 15 min until he finally showed up:rolleyes: and turned the bass down a little. it wasnt much but it was an improvement. from then on out though, i really enjoyed hernan.

the true hero of the night was sharam. around 10:25 my friend goes to get some water and after he leaves i look to my left and see sharam standing right next to me! i shake his hand, do the "youre ing awesome man" routine, ask him what hes doing here to which he replies "im fixing the sound". he returned two or three times and from that point on i thought the sound quality had almost reached the ty raves full potential.

i thought sharam spun the best too. everything was solid and i thought he had some really creative transitions.

oakenfold was right up there with sharam IMO. i did hear a few gallops and one TERRIBLE transition but other than that he kept the crowd moving.

i also thought the guy working the visuals did a really nice job.

btw, what was with the dude with the mohawk doing his tai-chi on stage? if i were sharam i woulda cut the music till his ass got of stage.:whip:

yeah... she pushed up right next to my gf and I about halfway through oakenfolds set and we managed to move her ass back a bit. her hat kept hitting us and it was bugging the hell out of the both of us.

i dont even know why though. we got there and started walking towards the entrance and this guy just hurries up and asks where i parked. i said i had parked pretty far away and he said "well.. you cant wear your hat in the building for tonight show so either take it back to your car, throw it in the bushes, or throw it in the trash."

i asked if i could put it in my gfs purse and he just glared at me and was like, "did you hear what i said? i said no hats inside the building!"

so yeah.. i chucked it in the bushes along with my camera and went in and by the time i got outside after the show, my camera was still there but my hat was gone. i had hoped id run into the twit that had my hat on the streets. i would have ran up and taken it right off his head. that hat is like.... i dono... i feel naked without it, as i wear it pretty much everywhere i go. :(

i thought this was one of the better nights that ive had this year.

Hernan: I thought he did a great job of warming up. His style seems to lend itself better to warming up than headlining. I was there for about five minutes and then he played Chab-Closer to me (Digweed/Muir/Lexicon Ave). i cant remember the name of the song he played to close out but it was great. i think he dropped paolo mojo - motor city (jamie anderson remix) but im not sure.

Sharam: i had some issues with his set. it sounded like he took the songs from the essential mix and just reshuffled them. i went wandering after about 20 minutes of his set trying to find some ta's but there were too many people there. i stopped back and he was playing Say Hello and the disc skipped. from what i heard, he played Flashing for Money and that one track with Stevie Nicks i think its called Dreams.

Oakey: this was probably the best ive seen oakey (only seen him 3 times). i thought his set was banging but you guys were right about the questionable mixing. i took a little break when he played G&D - Arcadia. he played some classics towards the end like Greece 2000(? Remix) and Traffic. did anyone see him doing a little train type dance during Traffic?

can anyone explain to wtf those people were doing dancing in front of the decks? it was like some interpretive dance.

it was Traffic ;)

i actually like suburban train so had he played that i wouldnt have forgotten, although i will admit even Traffic sounds good on a big loud system :p

maybe it was just the vibe and the energy

now that i am up and the left side of my head is kinda numb, i will post my opinion.

Sharam killed the dancefloor and worked the croud, oakie just kinda played music and walked around in the back. I thought it was rude in the beginning when he just kinda left for a little bit and came back. but I admiut, oakie was good at the end when he started to drop bombs. The trainwrecks really supprised me because it actually seemed like he was trying to actually mix halfway deciently, but yeah, we all have our good and bad days. On not of the sound at the rave: I think they think all they need is for it to be really loud, most of the time when there were vocals you couldnt hear what was being sung said etc because the highs would become so muddy that it was unbearable. Also, those dancers were really ing annoying, they did nothing but distract me from the music because i was thinking how aweful they were, but yeah, maybe some people liked em.
