Could it be the flighty plinky plonky melody...yeah that's it. You techno heads crack me up. Jaguar is obviously more cheesy than that Snap remix, but you'll be quick to denounce the Snap remix not because it's cheesy, but because it's a techno remix of a eurodance track. PLURB! |

Cheesy commercial contemporary techno and schranz, by and large comes from:
Chris Liebing
Davide Squillace
Umek
Gayle San
Lars Klein
Robert Natus
Henrik B
Hertz
Marco Bailey
Valentino Kanzyani
DJ Preach (his past several releases are utter unimaginative )
Stanny Franssen
Paco Osuna
Hardcell & Grindvik
Tim Xavier
Speedy J
DJ Rush
et al
remember, this is all IMO, so flame all you want. |

That's the EXACT reason I find it cheesy. I highly value the original version of The Power, and I think it's utter commercial bullcrap when someone just puts an incredibly unimaginative techno loop under it and calls it a remix. |

Well I guess our definitions of cheesy are different. Me, I like to go with something more substantial than what the track used to be. Such as what the track is. In the case of Techno, i'd say that the more melody the more cheesy, because a large majority of Techno is not really melodic, so the reference point for "not cheesy" is practically no melody at all. |

There's still a substantial part of (high quality, imo) techno that IS pretty melodic, and I'm sure you're aware of that, even when keeping what you think of it out of consideration :). It's the reason I don't use the "amount of melody", so to say, as a reference for the cheesyness of a track.
So yes, it seems our definitions differ :) It's ok by me though. |

That's right. In fact my favorite techno track is this one right here: http://mp3.juno.co.uk/MP3/SF6037-01-01-01.mp3
Even I hesitate to call it "cheesy" techno. But there must be a standard, and I have settled on one that would make this cheesy techno. If I really ask myself why I hesitate in this case, is it really because it's not cheesy or is it because of an irrelevant respect or reverence for Derrick May. The latter is true. So when I put my emotions aside and use my head it's a cheesy techno track. Peace. |

As you probably would have guessed from my description, I wouldn't call this cheesy.. I just like it :)
Enough for now though.. Gotta get some sleep, seeing Hawtin and Acquaviva tomorrow. |
