plus, most likely won't affect you guys, but like i said it seemed to be 21+, which totally blows for me. i really want to see G&D, but i don't even know how strict they are on entry.
anybody know if they sell tickets at atomic or anything like that?

i'm just gonna give it a shot and go that night and try to buy a ticket at the door. think it'll work?...

Wait, they normally play hip hop upstairs at this place which is where they are putting G&D at for that night?? Whhaaaaa? Sounds kinda small too. There’s a dance floor upstairs and downstairs? I guess I could just check out the clubs website. And in response to the “posers and haters” – you make it sound like this place is normally ghetto?!?!

it is not ghetto. it is more upscale then anythign else. seen and be seen type of deal. so by posers, they mean just that. they don't know who's is playing that night, or much of anything related to EDM. the are just there because it is cool to be at an electronic event.
the club is actually nice. i don't know about throwing an event there though. http://www.mantrahouston.com/
if you do decide to stop by, let us know. so we can party together.

ahhh i getcha. well good maybe they'll be too busy standing around trying to look pretty and leave more room for people like me who want to enjoy the music on the dancefloor.

and don't worry i'll let you know for sure :D

The club is definitely small for an event like this. Downstairs is nice but I'm not sure if they will be playing the music downstairs as well. They'd better have. The lounging area is pretty nice. Not just some bench with fabric on it. I'm not sure if it's still a restaurant by day anymore but it used to be an upscale sushi bar. They used to serve sushi until 2am too

Upstairs is tiled and a bar on each end of the floor but it gets packed easily and traffic is tough. I'm glad it's on a Friday since it wont be as packed (I hope) so you may have a chance to actually dance (I doubt it).

But it's G&D and they are not to be missed so I'll see you all of you regulars there. Anyone grabbing a bite to eat beforehand? It's so hard to chat to you regulars when the music is blasting. Would be cool to meet up beforehand and catch up perhaps.

i'm not a regular perse, but i try to make it to most of these as possible. i'd be interested in meeting up with some of ya'll for sure. just name place and time, and i'll try to make it.

TA MEETUP!!!

Daydreamer, Digitalbreach, it's your turn to make it happen.

ok so looks like there might be a better chance i'll be making a trip to houston for the first time ever...

i checked out the venues website and i see what you mean about the ceilings being low. from the pictures it looks like it gets extremely crowded and not really a big dance floor. but i did like that where the dj plays is right on the floor along with everybody else. its not 5 stories above the crowd. i like to be able to see the djs getting into their own music and dance along with everyone else.

will be extremely different than seeing them at a venue like Vision in Chi-Town, but hey it's G&D ;)

looks like a good time

That's awesome :). If you plan on staying more than just the night though bring some light clothing cuz Houston is a scorcher in August. Mantra is always hot when it's packed as well. I can only imagine how hot it will be there on an August night.

It is going to be upstairs lke jbooty said, which is what they call ICE. The celings are way low, very cramped makng you feel clausterphobic. It's normally hip hop upsatirs so I can imagine there will be a bunch of posers and haters up there. Why couldn't they find a better place for them ? It's almost disrespctful.
Nevertheless, we're still going 'cause it G & D. See ya'll there.

huh??

I reside there every saturday, and i fine it to be just fine a place to play. and i dont play a lick of rap at all,
my sets are all progressive or various house only. Myself and otehrs join me in my booth like Randall Jones (tigerhook), Stephan Rideaux(rickshaw), Candace Elliot(uniform records), plus others and play there every weekend... You should make it out ther emore often and enjoy it.

This place is fine for events, There are drawback but there are for all clubs really. This place though has alot of good reasons to hold events there.. capacity is about 800 people, its a really nice design up and down, has a balcony upstairs and patio downstairs for chillin outside if you wish, lots of bar space up and down to get drinks, dancefloor is nice and lined with windows overlooking downtown mainstreet, and rooms/booths fo those who wish privacy or ballin with a bottle service thing, and it has a lot of AC (a plus) which was installed recently too.. also the DJ booth is elevated almost 2 ft up and easily see the djs. which i like it when the DJ is almost on the dancefloor with you.

This will be a great party all around. Look FORWARD to it.
i know I am and i am VERY happy to have these guys return. They are wonderful people and amazing musicians.
