DRUGS....i am curious of what people think about in the scene

this post i am sure has been up before..so dont get mad just ignore it if u dont wanna read it or if it bothers u...if it was up i did not see it...i am jus curious of what people think
Personally i went thru the drug phase and got nothing out of it but trouble and setbacks...i speak from experience on this
I found my self doing Exctasy at every party/rave and doing bumps of k/ketamine every day....i did coke sometimes and drank ALOT....and to be honest with you , It wasnt till i stopped drugs that i FELT the music more...it became my new drug...
drugs did nothing for me and if someone else wants to do them thats on them...all I can do is offer advice from someone who went thru it all, and had PLENTY of Bad trips and nights in the hospital
Now i just drink and once and once and awhile get REALLY drunk but will NEVER do another drug besides alcohol again...those days are over as they will be for MOST everyone else in here...its just an experimental phase we all go thru...i just wish i hadnt...
Trance is my new drug...this may sound corny but i get a better high off of certain tracks that NO DRUG could ever give me...its more of a emotional high or a high that penetrates your soul......
Peoplee in my opinion can do what they want..and everyone thinks they know best..i am not preaching...i am just saying that drugs get u nowhere.....thats a fact....do what u want just be careful --PLEASE !!
Alot of people say well "E" and "GHB" used to be legal so its safer then coke or herion....for all the people who say that u are just denying your habit and need some SERIOUS education.....those drugs where legal for medicinal reasons only the same way morephine is legal for people who NEED it..not people who wanna get high....there is no such thing as a safe drug..especially the ones we find in our scene..because most drugs in the tech/trance/rave scene are made in a lab and u have no idea whats in them........

| Alright.. I hear you, but you canīt really use yourself as an example there. I mean, if you spent many nights in the hospital and took ketamine everyday, thatīs one a whole different level.. I take drugs at times and there are risks but hey, there are risks everywhere (cliché! arrrgh!) If one can handle the drugs there really isnīt much of a problem. And I tell you, I CAN enjoy my music, you should see me on E :D |

Pesonally from what you've said it seems like you got sucked in to the whole drugs thing in a big way and it's great that you managed to get out of the habit. But I think that's what happens when people take it too far and drugs become the centre of attention.
But that's just one side of the coin isn't it? There are thousands of people who go out at the weekend and have a couple of pills and then on Monday morning they go back to work and it doesn't effect their normal day to day life at all.
On top of that, they have a passion for Trance music regardless of whether they are on drugs or not, they go home and listen to Trance music in the evenings and on the way to work in the morning and in their cars... they don't need the drugs to appreciate the music at all.
Nobody "needs" to take a drug to make themselves feel good, they want to. They take drugs because, in short, they make you feel good. Sure music can do that too... but then you don't keep away from sex just because there are other ways of getting yourself off. I think anybody who says that they can get exactly the same feeling that E gives you by any other means is taking absolute bollocks.
As Ishkur puts it, if a person is ill and takes a drug to make them happy then it's known as medicine... if a perfectly healthy person takes a drug for the same reason then it's suddenly evil. Which if you ask me is bollocks... it should be the other way round. If people need drugs to make them feel good then they shouldn't be given them.
Anyway that's just my opinion... if there's one thing I hate it's
a) Drug takers trying to convince other people to do it
b) Non-drug takers thinking their superior just because they don't.
OK, that was two things but anyways. None of the above was aimed at anybody in particular by the way, just peoples attitudes in general.
Have fun everybody and love the music, or the drugs, or both. Who cares, long as you're having fun and not hurting anybody else. |

i always find it amusing when people profess to stay away from drugs, but then have no hesitation in downing a bottle of XXX and gettin faced...
ALKAMAHOLE IS A DRUG!!!
i guess the main distinction is in the way society percieves alcohol as acceptable and everything else as below the board...

umm but yea.. i do take a pill or two when i go to big events... not cos i need to take something to have fun, but to HEIGHTEN the experience im already having.
I think its kinda sad if it ever gets to the stage where u depend on a drug to make sure u have fun at an event... it should always be about the music
one thing i do find intriguing is the number of people who spend a large sum of money on a ticket to an event.. then proceed to drop a pill and spend the whole night bummed out in the chill out area. Maybe its the atmosphere that attracts them... i dunno :conf:

I dunno, I don't do drugs when I go to parties, I drink like a bastard, but thats it. I enjoy the music so much, I'd like to think I don't need them.
I smoke weed cos it's nice, but it's not really a dance drug is it? I dont even call it a drug.
However, who knows? Having not tried them I can't preach to others about them, so I'm not in the slightest bothered about others using drugs.
I'm just pissed off at the end of the night when I can't keep up with them on the dancefloor and my bank balance looks a million times worse :( |

i agree with both Ascension and Spad, and both of you make good points... What we need to accept is the fact that there will be drugs, not just in the rave scene, but everywhere.. for some i'ts hard to accept and for others its just a fact of life. honestly i could give a who is high and who isnt. people are all enjoying themselves and thats what matters, right? yes, ravers (me included) sometimes get all bitter because of people who "ruin" raves, but whose to say they are actually ruining the experience. i think that it is ones own attitude toward others which could make for a ty night. we all can just be happy to be listening to some great music with others who are enjoying it as well, whats the problem with that??? trance isnt our posession, even if it was wouldnt it be good to spread and diversify the followers?? if we all are addicted and enjoy it as much as we do, why not others, i say let everyone do as they please at raves, as long as its for music. if you go to a rave on drugs and dont even care about the music, you are a in follower and that is disrespect to all of us who love it so dearly.
on a side note... or maybe not so side, but different that what was just said:
