actually it wasnt really, this was probably the biggest discussion at work yesterday involving dr's, surgeons and even the bloody cleaners, it brings attention to stupid day clubs and the abuse of drugs by many people each weekend.
How is that so bad? |

the parents blamed e for leading their daughter down the path of drug usage/experimentation and the journo reported it as such.
everyone makes their own choices, the 'blame' here is that if she had chosen not to try e, then she certainly wouldn't have been trying GHB and OD'ing. |

Jolz, has a point there. It brings attention to these so called day clubs, which are blight on our clubbing scene imo. People need to be able to distinguish when the party is over, ive never had this problem, no matter how much peer group pressure is involved. I think by saying drugs are illegal is an easy copout, like it or not they are prevelant in todays society.
Narcism: they were making a continous link that e and ghb mixed together is lethal only, not ghb or e alone. Drugs are dangerous be it E or GHB, i felt as a massive media outlet, they have the responsibility to report it honestly. |

but thats just it right there my friend. it doesnt matter what you or 20 people on this forum think. its about what a media journo thinks, thats what makes the paper. who really gives a about this topic cause at the end of the day you're always going to be having people making comparisons between drugs no matter how harsh/severe/whatever they are to each other, because to the general public.. all drugs are illegal and are treated the same
thats my point, stress less smile more s. who gives a .. one man's viewpoint on your favourite party drug isnt going to change your life style, whatever you do in it. just be prepared for the general public to loath at you for doing drugs full stop. thats reality. get used to it. remember, there is no gray area in someone's mind.. they're either openminded or not =)

| coz i dont see the relevance of her previous drug use in relation to her death. it was tacked on for no good reason (imo). why not mention she first tried pot when she was 16? thats just as relevant to me. but youre right, there is nothing wrong with highlighting the dangers of any (inc legal) drug use. i just think there are more accurate & successful ways of doing so (instead of the \"slippery slope\" theory that people have been peddling for years). |

yeah totally. thats what im saying. ive got no probs with any drug being highlighted for its danger(s); just that (in this case) i thought the standard of journalism was pretty ty. |

Yeah they are saying ecstacy is a gateway drug to GHB, I guess in the same way they show weed to be a gateway to "harder" drugs.
Love how they used the story about the girl OD'ing on GHB as a platform to launch a front page "INSIGHT!!!!" into the dangers of ecstacy. Saw that one coming a mile away. They just used her death as an excuse to freak out the general public, not because they truely wanted to educate people about the dangers of GHB. Disgraceful journalism. |

RIP Belinda. All apologies to you, your family and friends.
I hope that those that left u there, are tormented for life (or life until OD) knowing that one call on there mobile, and you might be alive.
I also hope it does serve as some warning.
IMO, good article overall, some shady stab-in-the-dark parts, and as much as it seems easy to say a nurse should know better, so should anyone with a little common sense.
who wants to take Grievous bodily harm? at least ecstacy sounds fun... |

Day clubs should defintely be stopped, people i know dj at PHD and i quote," The harder we play the music the harder and more people dance," he then went on to tell me that one of the dj's even plays all the way up to 154bpm.... i mean what the !!!!
Anyone trying to keep up with that mash of beat and sound would have to be as drug filled as possible... i mean 154 bpm thats just ridiculous, and he then said if they had choons that could go faster then they'd probably play them,
And another thing it starts at 7am till 5pm you should be asleep or chillin out in recovery to some nice prog trance or something at that time not pushin even harder, The HARD dance seen is causing way too many problems... no offence guys (to those who like it) but it just seems to attract the of the dance seen and society! |
