Man with No name ( Martin Freeland)

Hi

Im after some info on MWNN..ive always loved his style and sound, and wish he still produced similar stuff like Floor Essence and Vavoom

Ive been trying to piece together exactly how he creates his tunes, gatheringthat he uses Filters alot,to make the tune flow, and then he writes fantastic riffs that have lots of emotion...

The info im after is does he use particular notes, are most tunes he produces from a certain style/Sound......Im just a little lost, and wanted some advice

if anyone can assist me that would be fantastic,as every little bit of info helps...

Items such as the key he uses, does he use alot of picth shifting, how does he get his hypnotic riffs,ie. synths????....Can VSTS get similar sounds,i know 'THE DRONE' on the Refx the beast is very similar to the VIRUS-THE SUN......

The most important tune im trying to work out is Vavoom,....ive partially worked out from the start he's got a nice pad sound, then the Vavoom Riff, which im sure uses pitch shift of some sort,as it seems to change pitch as the bass line kicks in,and he changes notes on the bass to make it flow, then theres what i would say is an acid lines build,im trying to work out is this a preset on a synth or something he's wrote

Anwyay, ill stop ranting on,just curious to see if others can help out a little....

Regards and thanks for any help

Lee Humphries:)

Hi Lee. The best thing to do is to post a few samples of the tracks. Not everyone will have heard about the tunes/artist you're talking about so if you post a sample and say 'how do you make such-and-such sound' then you'll probably get a better response

Hi Lee

Im also a fan of MWNN.Loved his sound for yrs. Virus - Sun (MWNN Rmx) is just a killer old oakie track, which still holds its own. His sound is very similar to Yahels imo.

Hell yeah, a Man With No Name thread. Complete fusion of the best use of detuned, mystical, emotional trancy riffs with with the devoid-of-pitch, dark, stoicness of acid and techno. If only recent trance artists would draw from his style...
