Hey, I'm Sveta from New York TA. I'm gonna stuck with my Dutch friend in Houston for a weekend 29-31 of July. I have absolutely no idea what to do and where to go. Any recommendations?
I would consider nice gigs, clubs with Trance-house music, fun places to see and SIx flags (in my book it says - "can't miss it" but we got bigger and better Theme park in NJ so i wonder if it is worth it to go to this park)
Thanks.:D |

tomorrow, armin will be playing along side deep dish and oakenfold at meridian, as i'm sure you've seen on the forum
you might want to also check http://www.clubzone.com/events/inde..._type=7&city=43
they have a good selection of little events. i haven't been to that many from that site, because i rely on www.77002.com
you can always go to main street, m bar's really good, and there are a couple other good clubs around there.
but if you're looking for non-night time activities, i'd recommend goin to the galleria, because frankly, all there really is to do is shopping and eatin in houston. the menil collection is a free museum. i'm not a fan of six flags, so yea, skip on that. i heard the aquarium is kinda neat.
i can't think of anything else right now, hope that helps a little. |

STUCK is the proper word. for the life of me, i cant find anything entertaining to do in houston. of course more options would precipatate to appear if i had some sort of financial liberty.
mid-town has some nice restaurants that are easy on the wallet and satisfying to the stomach.
Fogo de Chao on westheimer if your are into meat meat and more meat.
http://www.b4-u-eat.com/ a very good website to help you ease into the houston restaurant scene. mexican, chinese, thai, greek food etc., houston is such a multicultural city. do use the website.
i've lived here my whole life, and still that website is of some use when i want to try something new.
six flags is ok, if the weather permits. galleria is becoming more and more boorish as the years go by. shopping in boutiques around mid and uptown might do you better.
there are always museums, parks and the sort.
anything else, just ask. |

thanks everybody.
well, i was interested in HOUSTON and not THIS weekend because i do know what i'll be doing this weekend. Shopping and restaurants sound good but i can do a really good shopping in Soho and eat at Le Beranardin and Daniel in NYC. This is not what i'm looking to do.
I want something typical TX and something fun. I can't believe there are no DJs playing that weekend or there are no clubs to go (sorry, bars do not work because i don't drink alcohol).
But at least i know i should skip six flags :D I just don't want to spend three days in the hotel:( |

Check out upsidedownhouse.com...They have their monthly party (mostly house music) called "rent" coming up the weekend that you will be in town...Sat July 30th at a club called Meridian...Not trance, but I hear that it's a great party...Also 77002.com has event listing of what's happening in clubs in Houston.
Have fun...

Nothing like that in Houston. Besides the Meridian event going on tonight, we aint got sh1t here (0.02)
As far as 6 flags, if you are a fan of rollercoasters you might enjoy it. If you hate long lines, humidity and high prices though..maybe not. |
