Armed police have surrounded a mosque in East London...

In addition, an east London mosque on Whitechapel Road said it had received a bomb threat and called police. The mosque was evacuated while police checked the building. It was cleared and people were allowed back inside.

If its not classified, where do you work? A friend of mine is a paper pusher at GCHQ, its not that far from me.

Yahoo is saying that all explosives were ment to cause some serious damage, but only the primers went off.

we didnt actually get searched this morning - typical government organisation.

i work in benefit fraud. not as fun as it sounds, im sure u can guess our clientele isnt exactly high-quality ;)

The think is...if this guy was a suicide bomber and was wearing a vest bomb...then firing 5 shots into the main body could cause detination. So the only place they could fire 5 shots safely is:
A) The Limbs, which is pointless.
B) The Head, which would be 4 shots too many.

Discuss.

Shot man not connected to bombing

A man shot dead by police hunting the bombers behind Thursday's London attacks was unconnected to the incidents, police have confirmed.

A Scotland Yard statement said the shooting was a "tragedy" which was regretted by the Metropolitan Police.

The man was shot dead after police followed him from a south London flat to Stockwell Tube station on Friday.

Two other men have been arrested and are being questioned after bombers targeted three Tube trains and a bus.

The statement read: "We believe we now know the identity of the man shot at Stockwell Underground station by police on Friday 22nd July 2005, although he is still subject to formal identification.

"We are now satisfied that he was not connected with the incidents of Thursday 21st July 2005.

"For somebody to lose their life in such circumstances is a tragedy and one that the Metropolitan Police Service regrets."

The statement confirmed the man was followed by police from a block of flats that was under surveillance.

The man's death is being investigated by officers from the MPS Directorate of Professional Standards, and will be referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Yes, what happened was bad, but the circumstances are a little strange.... this guy comes out of a house that the police were surveilling, and he runs away from them, and he has a thick coat on?

it happens mate, as bad as it sounds, i'd rather they shot 10 innocent people who they thought were going to be a threat than didn't shoot just one out of them and they end up killing people in an attack. sad really i know
