Getting back into town late on Sunday night, i didnt think i would be able to be in attendence - but i'm VERY glad i was.
Got to Lot around 10:30 with my girl, and Nevio was getting the night started nicely. Vocal, sexy house to start things off - with most of the crowd starting to settle in, and socialize. The crowd was definately a mix of the 'plastic enhanced' and those who just flat out liked to party. It made for an interesting vibe, overall turning out to be a very positive one. We really didnt even start dancing until the Iberican Duo came on, but when they did - it was time to make up for lost time!
Chus and Cebellos are officially the most consistant duo in the 'scene' over the past year. They have not once let me down, and Sunday was more of the same consistancy I have become accustomed to. With the venue being a more swanky feel than usual for these guys, i was expecting more of a groovy, sleeze filled selection of tracks - but was pleasantly surprised by how hard they came out the gates. Thunderous baselines, filled with intoxicating melodies gave a combination of madness and sexy that you just dont come across too often these days. Thats why they have become such a Toronto favourite..... they appeal to such a diverse group of music lovers in general. Absolutely loved the remix of Sean Miller's 'Swells'. Put a great twist on one of my favourite productions (but in my opinion, doesnt touch the original! ;))
The climax of the night was achieved around 3am. It was as if the entire building was going through a musical orgasm, and there was jizzim all over the walls. People were jumping up and down like mad - i had to remind myself at times.... 'this is Monday morning - i work in a few hours', but the combination of great company and blistering tribal, i was doomed. Basically getting dragged out around 3:45, the night was still in full force, but reality was setting in.
Great seeing the usual suspects, but also i loved seeing the old faces and catching up with a lot of you. And what can be said about Kevin Harcourt RAPING the dancefloor. You my friend - were the Floorwhore for this night. You kicked my ass, and if i recall correctly - groped it a few times.... or was that Margaret?? Or both???? Im confused.
Congrats to Carey for pulling off an amazing party, on of all nights.... a Sunday. It's great to see you have been able to continue what you love to do, and it's always great seeing/chatting with you. |

I agree, Jeff, with everyone, you have some of the best reviews on the board, and I am happy I was finally at a party that you were at too, so I coud read you describe it and really understand the "sense" that you were/are trying to empart and recapture for us in your post.
