so u watched a dvd screener copy of lotr before it came out in the cinema? thats utter bull... |
Yep, among other movies. A move called Mindhunters was on the net a YEAR before it was put into theatres and I'm not talking a ty cam rip, I'm talking full quality 4.2 GIG DVD rips were on the net.
The movie was still released. Family Guy movie leaked two months early, still released. I could go on but I'm sure it's all "utter bull". |

mindhunters was on the net bout 7-8 months early admittedly, tho not a year ;). Family guy movie too was leaked a couple of months early.
But lotr was never released early or at very least wasnt leaked early generally on the net. if u did have a dvd screener months before it hit the cinema then u are either in a release group and managed to get hold of some internal release or you are talking utter bull ;) |

| A lot of those things do get ripped before hitting cinemas. I wouldnt be surprised if someone at a cinema film printing company ripped it and put it up :( |

It wasn't months in advance, it was about 4 weeks or so in advance.
It wasn't 7-8 months for Mindhunters though. It was originaly out in May I believe and it was on the net for a good year before that, 10 or 11 months at least. |

As an avid downloader from p2p, I have the following to say:
Yes, I download tracks. I do share as well.
My view is the same as some others that have been expressed. Even if I didn't share, other downloaders would find another person who has the files they're looking for.
However, if I'm going to play the track live, I buy the digital download, or ask for a copy from the producer.
I use downloading as a way to find new artists or to find new tunes a producer has out/coming out that I didn't know about.
I've found sooo many new artists and types of music by branching out thru p2p searches.
I get promos too. I respect the producer's work and thought they took in sending it to me, and keep it in a seperate unshared folder.
On another note, my 200GB HDD recently crashed so there goes all my mp3s I've been receiving since 2003 (including ALL of my promos). Pissed isn't even a word to describe how i feel about this. |

i would probably just cry for a few days if that ever happened. *knocks on wood* :nervous: |

Im probably gonna send it out to a data recovery center. I got an average of $1400 for a full data recovery. But, some companies offer a listing of recoverable files. I think I'll just get that, tell them to forget about it, and re-d/l the files ;)
Problem will be tracking down all the promo/rare tracks again

im bored of arguing with you now, you obviously know nothing about this. Just check that site i posted, it lists all movie releases on the net and proves that you are wrong, lotr came out in the cinema in december 2001 and the first dvd screener rip of it came out on 2nd February 2002. |

It proves nothing because no site can vouch for absolutely everything on the net. Thanks for coming out, if you're bored then just shut up. |
