Perhaps many here are unbeknownst to the fact that "of late" simply means recently. |

| yeah but it is just another way to say recently. english is interesting in the fact that there are many different ways to say the same thing. many other languages dont have that; there is only one way to say certain things. |

Can you elucidate that? Or should I pay no mind to it as it's a kind of inside joke? :p |
south park i believe. people from the future come back in time to south park and steal everyone's jobs. they decide that becoming gay is the only way to get rid of them because they wont exist in the future on be able to come back in time. it was a pretty funny episode. |

But it's not another way. It's altogether awry. People just seemed to have become convinced it's an alternate way because virtually everyone on these boards are writing it thus. That doesn't mean it's right, and it's certainly not. |

it depends on the speakers 'present state of mind'. you need to refer to an exact example of what it is that you talking of. b/c lately and recently are sort of interchangable.
here is a good link that is simple to understand:

while we are at it, was your usage of 'thus' correct? isnt 'thus' a subjuctive? you cant really place it at the end of a sentence; it is kind of like placing 'and' at the end of a sentence, dont'cha think? ;)

I find this far more irritating. You can claim it's 'American-Engligh' all you want, but when it boils right down to it, it's just unneeded butchering of the English language. |

on a more serious note, do you mean the lack of the usage of the letter 'z' or zed or whatever you guys call it? would you prefer it be spelled utilise? hey it is just a variation of english.... |
