Pardon my contumely, but if you don't know WTF you're posting about please don't post at all. Permit me to give you a small lesson in the English language. "Thus" has several connotations, one of them being "in this way;" to wit, the one I employed. ;)

Thanks for reinforcing my point which nobody seemed to comprehend. Oh, and for the record, I've never read the LOTR books, but many other books I've perused I've always caught sight of the said phrase and as Lepanto clearly stated, it only appears as "of late." Hope this will instill some new knowledge in you lot and preclude you from writing the dreaded "as of late." ;) |

i see. what i am saying is it is rather awkward to use thus in that form and there are better ways to say that so that it sounds like you dont come from the middle ages.
you are going to give me an english lesson? i find that rather funny as using the same sentence as an example from before:

you are using the incorrect verb form with your subject everyone. it isnt 'everyone are', but rather 'everyone is'. everyone may be plural but it uses the singualr verb form b/c it ends in 'one'.

Yes, that was a typo and a mild mistake on my part, and I obviously don't need you to explain to me how to use the word 'everyone' correctly. Don't be such a stickler. I, on the other hand, had to provide a small English lesson inasmuch as you clearly were unaware of the additional meanings of 'thus.' ;) |

i was aware, but like i stated before that is barely used as of late in that form in modern english. and you started the stickling first ;). |

That's preposterous mate. It's used from time to time, depending upon what you're reading. Besides, how do you think I learned of its said usage? Far be it from me to read something in Old or Middle English. ;) Well, the latter I may have read seldom...I hardly enjoy Shakespeare withal. |
