I would go this route....it's not worth finishing off the summer if you are just losing your paycheck to gas money anywasy.....that is absolutely ridiculous that you have paid that much and you get $100 back in return...absolute BS |

Wah wah wah....
j/k Cale.
We have this problem at work too. The people who work marketing drive all over the place and management is always like "next week" when it comes to paying them out for milage.
Unfortunatly next week never comes. :whip: |

I have to stick it out until August 19th or I don't get the credit. I can't just quit and throw it all away now.
This situation sucks. |

Buy a box of 80 jumbo freezies from Costco for $10 then sell them for $3 each and dont give change when people hand you a 5 dollar bill. |

The one bargaining chip that you do have in all of this is their reputation with your school. Even if it means sticking it out for now, once you get back to school, bring this issue up with whoever coordinated your coop placement or whichever faculty/office is most likely to be able to do something about it.
Once the right people know there are several things that could (possibly) happen:
1. Said water company will get blacklisted as a future coop placement candidate not only from your school but probably most schools (coop positions tend to be networked).
2. The school can apply to have some income reinstated to you based on your gas receipts (which I'm assuming you've kept because you know the total amount of money that you have spent).
***There is actually legality to this. My cousin went through something like this when she was in university due to traveling for her coop placement (Stoney Creek - Toronto). Work has to be compensated, and if that means that traveling is included under the umbrella of work then so be it. If you have to travel for work, and the company is aware of this upon hiring you, then that does not override your right to be compensated for YOUR time that you are giving to them...************.
Just cause Cale. The right people always take notice if you are persistant about it. And in this case, you really should be. :( I mean, spending FOUR TIMES the monies allotted for gas by your employer just from driving to and from work, that's ridiculous - They should be held somewhat accountable. |

Go complain, tell them the $100/month is insufficient and you dont have enough money cover costs like this. Tell them its their responsiblitly and not yours. YES, you should be getting paid mileage, so go ask for it. Especially if there was a verbal contract about it.
If nothing helps drive with the $100 they gave you, and then thats it lol... collect pay, but dont bother driving further if you have to pay out of your pocket. How can they expect a student (ppl are saying its coop in this thread, so thats my assumption) to cover costs like this?!?!
Do not pay out of your own pocket for this kind of stuff unless you know 100% you'll be reimbursed. And since you havent been for the last month, dont any more until you are. THats my advice. |
