| I see someone's made the vast shift in musical tastes from trance all the way to prog... which is the same ing thing only it began life in Britain rather than Germany. |

Whats it got to do with being commercial? it was commercial back then too. Dance music always will be commercial because its sold in stores and released on record labels or downloaded. Thats the definition of commercial.
I was simple trying to point out to the genius that trance did not start with gouryella and the 3 minute breakdown.
I was talking about the sound. You know... the actual music. This is what we're talking about right? Frankly I dont give a if you think trance is supposed to be mainstream or if your happy to listen to whatever you term as commercial. But if you think Tiesto and Above and Beyond and Andy ing Moor is all that there is to trance... well your selling yourself and the genre way short. |

You know guys, I never got into one these, "Trance sucks balls" thread and the reason is because, I love Trance music. Everything from Deep Progressive House to uplifiting Trance to Techno.
This is getting very boring, I am not talking about about Trance music its self, I am talking about these members get online and just bitch non stop about how Tiesto trainwecks or how Armin suck dicks in productions, or ASOT sucks blah blah blah blah. Can people please stop with this nonsense on Tranceaddict.com. This is not what a website suppost to be. Did you think when Swamper created this website just for members to bitch about how ed up Trance DJs are? Did you all wake up each morning and wonder how you can up some DJs or producers day when you post messages about how their production and how lame they are?
If you don't like Trance and get the out!

How telling. You completely miss the point. Most bitch because they continue to care about trance, and know how much more the genre can offer than overhyped icon worship and worthless by-the-numbers epic from software. Not because they somehow have a pathological desire to frequent online message boards about things they dislike.
If anything, the critics around here care much more about the fate of trance than those who accept Armin's tripe. |

the first crowds of this music didnt need it to be "immediately enjoyable", that kinda deflects from the purpose of it actually.
early trance was meant to actually put you in a trance, that comes through careful and correct repetition and programming, if on the other hand you think a breakdown in each track, which means a breakdown every 3 minutes in a trance set can get you into a trance, you're either on drugs, or you are delluding yourself.
and if you consider trance from 99 to be early trance, you have no ground to stand on at all. |

Most people agree that it's in the pits at the moment, and people who blindly worship the very things many of us blame, without ever once bothering to find out where these things fit into the bigger picture cause friction with the more experienced members. |

It's unbelievable how pretenious and just plain picky you all are. Just enjoy the music for what it is! Appreciate what Andy Moor and Adam White are trying to do with the sound. The root of my love for electronic stems from the love of the use of tecnology to express feelings and experiences.
I have yet to hear of one reason why trance isn't supposed to be superficial. You just say.. "wrong." or "he's right though". But nothing to actually support your opinion.
Maybe I should make one caveat clear. I don't persoanlly think that the superficiality of the genre is a good thing; but what I'm saying is that getting agry over the superficiality of trance is like hating for smelling bad. You can do it all you want but it's still gonna stink.
So your tastes have become more refined/picky. Good for you, whoopidy doo dah! Doesn't change the fact that you used to love what you now hate. ;) |
