Stu Cox - ‘LIMITED EDITION’ :: technical uplifting/pumping trance mix
View this Thread in Original format
Stu Cox
It’s been about 4 months since the last one, so I thought it was about time for a new trance mix… so here it is!

63 mins of tunes covering uplifting/pumping/tech trance etc, they’re not all the newest tunes in the world but there are a few tracks I got my hands on just after I did my last mix which I really wanted to include

As with my last trance mix, I’ve tried to vary the style of mixing and technical work as much as the music itself so that it’s not just one tune after another, but this time trying to maintain a better flow, staying more ‘true’ to the style of music in my mixing technique.

I’ve also structured it so that it drops back down a level at the end, hopefully leaving you feeling relaxed and ‘complete’ :D instead of just wanting to bosh another gram speed and put on a happy hardcore cd or something…

I’ve included bits of layering, sampling and ‘meshing’ tunes together (all taken on a bit further from my last trance demo) to give something a bit different and use the music in a slightly different way :)

That’s more than enough blabbering, here’s the tracklist…

alright stu i've heard way too much hipe about your mixes so i decided to give them a try I'm pretty critical when it comes to advanced mixing and beat matching so I will tell you what I think

Ok heard the mix all in all it was very good...I enjoyed a few of the song selections you had in the mix, especially Purple Haze Adrenaline difintely vital to vinyl...Most the transitions were very clean however there were a few particulary at 14:37 of your mix..It seemed like you killed the track too soon without gruadually decaying it using the mid and high nobs on the mixer...Also there were other minor errors when it came to advanced mixing that you didn't follow with, especially when it had to do with killing a track within the proper transition period...for instance you being a producer you know about the 32 count rule that all records are produced with..every 32 counts there is a significant change in the melodic/position of the records sound in which it is ideal for mixing...in some parts you would cut this too soon, however i did not hear the contrary of holding a mix too long from you which was good. The beat matching was no problem I heard one minor mishap however it wasn't too significant and therefore I don't even remember where it was exactly.
All in all
8/10 song selection
9/10 beat matching
7.2/10 advanced mixing technique

Take it as you want

good ... but my 2 cents are

02 Purple Haze - 'Adrenaline'
(w/ Fictivison & C-Quence - 'Symbols')

^^both great tracks, but the hard bass line at about 7:30 all but drowns out the Symbols track... so it almost seems like you left the volume up a tad and didnt notice it...

i was looking forward to a fade into symbols solely but it didnt happen... but in all very good.. i do listen to it often.. thanks and keep it up.. i look fwd to yoru next one...

:D

i like this mix, very pumping - solid basslines and smooth mixing

the track selection is vibrant also- good tunes in there, this mix is a must for anyone trying to redefine trance - good mix of everything in there. though mostly tech etc, i enjoyed it.

keeping an eye out for future mixes :)

good stuff!
