| I agree that Hitler should definitely have his place in the sig. Perhaps with his eyes modified to be of a glowing red color. And then maybe a text like "This is what the TA leadership is turning into!"... |

If i see hitler in anyones sig or avatar then i will suspend thier account.
If you don't like the few rules that TA has, then you can always leave and go post on another forum.
TA's rules are there so that this site can be enjoyed by members of differing beliefs, political ideals, religions etc and that those ppl can come to this site and not be offended, yes it may be too politically correct and appear silly but this is a multicultural site and as such anything that may be offensive will be removed.
How you can compare the admin of TA with Hitler is beyond me, Hitler was a small minded racist twat where as TA embraces all cultures and welcomes them to this site in the hope that we ALL benefit from thier input into the site.
In any community, no matter if it is online or in real life, there has to be some element of control, some people will always rebel against that control, it is to be expected, but there are limits that each community will put up with and having Hitler in your sigs is not one that this community will tolerate.

^^^^ Seeing that you've grown all serious on us, I think it's fair to ask if there has been a real incident where some user has complained about the signature of someone else, or if this is a preemptive attack?
Also, why are there rules that forbid nudity and political substance in signatures, when there's tons of posts discussing both sexual and political subjects? Is it somehow expected that people are mature enough to ignore posts that offend them, but that they cannot do the same with sigs? |

trancaholic: simply because it would spill the sexual and political comments out of the threads they were to be confined. They're being censored for the same reason why you now have ******* whenever you curse - sponsors and whatnot.
If you really want my opinion, sigs are pointless anyway. |

Of course sigs are pointless, but so are a lot of things including avatars, off topic web forums, male nipples, and mustaches to name a few but they all exist.
On the other side of the ol' coin TA is more lenient than most forums I visit. Many that I go to allow no sexual content whatsoever, no political talk, no avatars or sigs, etc. I just find it funny that people are so offended by a sig. |

Avatars are good for identifying users far from the posts, I reckon :p
As for who get offended with sig, well, I remember the time I had some "anti-elitism" stuff in my sig... there were even threads about it, not to mention occasional hijacking in some threads I posted in. |

Anyway, regardless of the fact you pointed out that we can't really change the TA rules, I think we still have a right to discuss amongst us whether we think those rules are reasonable or not, especially since in this thread it is discussed in a pretty jovial manner. Basically, I don't see the point in having every political or religious connotation prohibited from appearing in signatures, because a political or religious connotation is not necessarily an offensive one. Banning every such symbol or parole does not make TA multicultural, it makes it acultural. Regardless of the fact that I often disagree with people's political views, there is no rational reason why I should be offended by occrider's propaganda minister or Lira's former Bible quote. Basically, there's a difference between a signature saying "I love Israel" and a signature saying "All non-Israeli countries must be destroyed and burned down". As for the hypothetical picture of Hitler in a sig, Hitler's appearance is not always a glorification of nazism. There are plenty of pictures in which Hitler appears that are direct and obvious criticizm of him and the Nazi regime.
PS. Didn't occrider once have a sig with Hitler and Mr Opus' tin foil hat in it? |
