What are they paying him?

If its not too much this could be a great pickup, but its a gamble.

my thoughts excacly, i thought they were done with the "experienced" players. Toronto needs fresh blood as well. And Lindros was teh lately. I'm more happy about getting Carter than him. I hope he still can deliver.

I don't think this is official yet... the thread originator needs to cite a source if it is.

Last I heard the BASE deal was worked out at something like, 1.6 mil, with heavy incentive based possibilities... and a second-year LEAF option.

It's a good deal people. And I hate to say it, but THIS is what the leafs HAVE to do to be able to compete! They have to take some chances.

Let's face it though, if Lindros pans out, and Allison stays healthy... this could be a pretty good year for leaf fans!

Think about a healthy Eric Lindros as your SECOND LINE centre! Interesting...

Also, Anson Carter could be on the way... and Jeff O'Neill may be a big jerk in person, but he's a decent hockey player who they got a good deal on.

No, to my mind the only mistake they have arguably made so far is signing Domi for so much money... they are again setting a bad precedent. I am the first to admit that some guys are around for different reasons other than scoring goals, but let's face it... Jeff O'Neill is a FAR better player than our boy Tie... and he's only costing them... $250,000 more per year... That doesn't make sense.

But we shall see, non?

Still haven't seen anything official about this so I don't think it is a done deal....I have checked all my sources and there is nothing about lindros or carter

Eric Lindros is 32. Hardly an "oldie".

Lindros has been close to a point a game player every season of his career or better, save one season with the craptastic Rangers in 2002-2003, I believe.

He has always wanted to play here, and I think he can flourish in his hometown. Sometimes all players need is a change of scenery for the better. Let's not forget that intangible.

The only major concern is (obviously) the concussion history, but at 1.6 mil base salary (+ incentives) he is a good fit. If he pans out into even half the player he used to be, Leafs fans will be loving him. The new rule changes will also benefit him, with the crackdown on interference (which should also reduce the risk of injury).

Edit: Nothing is official yet, but local media sources in Toronto say that a tentative deal is being hammered away on as we speak.

all i gotta say is fock em!

*if* we sign, him...it had better be for a small guaranteed salary with a contract that is heavy on incentives...specifically for # of games played!

I've hated him ever since he refused to play for the team which drafted him (Quebec). Selfish f**k.

I'm also disgusted that Bertuzzi has been reinstated...so he lost ~500k in NHL salary from missing ~20 games, but will make over 5 mil. this year. Moore will be lucky if he can ever play anywhere again. yep, that seems fair  :whip:
