Eric Lindros is 32. Hardly an "oldie".

Lindros has been close to a point a game player every season of his career or better, save one season with the craptastic Rangers in 2002-2003, I believe.

He has always wanted to play here, and I think he can flourish in his hometown. Sometimes all players need is a change of scenery for the better. Let's not forget that intangible.

The only major concern is (obviously) the concussion history, but at 1.6 mil base salary (+ incentives) he is a good fit. If he pans out into even half the player he used to be, Leafs fans will be loving him. The new rule changes will also benefit him, with the crackdown on interference (which should also reduce the risk of injury).

Edit: Nothing is official yet, but local media sources in Toronto say that a tentative deal is being hammered away on as we speak.

he is also one head injury from being a vegatable as you said.

there is a big difference between a guy that is 22 and a guy that is 32.

and still not offical like you said. so lets not talk about it until it is official.
Stilez
yup!! he'll prob. skate over the blue line and then..... POW!!!!! ..... at least he can look forward to being a hockey analyst like his brother...after all...that's what made him retire early as well.
verndogs

lol -- Jeff was in my grade in Elementary school in King City (grade 7/8) -- all about hockey, and being the popular dude back then too :)

Happy for him that he's a supahstar!

Hehe...I was sayin' at work we should start calling him, "Kazoo"

1 yr and $1.55M is the contract...

and I'm just all giggly about Carter signing up; he's totally the Leafs style of play! Can't wait! :tongue2
MarkT
for that price, and only giving him a 1 year contract...I think it's a *great* move!

fuk...we're on the hook for 6mil+ for Belfour and his back could go at any time...and look what we're going to pay Nolan to leave town...Lindros for 1 year, 1.55...potential bargain if he stays healthy and there's no long-term risk to the Leafs.

Agreed.....for the price he is worth it. I think we will find more and more one year contracts now. The low risk of one term contracts is good for the teams and the players can choose where they want to play. The long term deals were there so players could make the big bucks. Now the big bucks are not there so players don't want long term contracts.

I was a done deal awaiting the results of the MRI and the rest was the contract length!

I like his comment "I'll try to keep my head up!" in the interview LOL.
