The Main Event :haha:

It was said earlier....it's all about the $$$$$$

Once the main room goes to hip hop, you can safely say EDM in Miami is dead....

I fear this ^^ will happen ealier then we think... :sadgreen:

How does this interfere with EDM in any way? Hip Hop night will occur Fridays. If trance worked in miami then fridays would be trance. Saturdays is still a go. Business is Business. Word around the pissser is it costs space approx $30,000 just to open its doors a night. If LP did not think that he will get that and then some by having a hip hop night this would not be happening. The man is a busines person first.

I think more noise needs to be made about EDM. The hiphoppers are just a bunch of obnoxious loudmouths, that's why they're great at getting their heard.

I'm no business major, but i've noticed that almost all the dance-related here is poorly marketed, while hiphop is marketed much better.

You think people really care about the music? It's all about marketing, that's why Hilary Duff is big and she sucks (and the masses know she sucks).

I'm no Hitler supporter, but he had a point when he said, "if you preach a lie long enough and loud enough, people are going to start to believe you"

THat's why rock and hiphop are so successful.. Their promoters are loud and obnoxious, the artists are loud and obnoxious, persuasive.. EDM artists are the quiet Djs behind the decks (which doesn't appeal greatly to the masses)..

EDM is great music, and people know it is great music, but if your marketing sucks, well your is going nowhere.

I know you guys think Buster's an ass and is annoying, but he is a great businessman IMO. He can round up a great crowd, for any kind of music. I say we need more active personalities in dance music.

agred, but then you query that it is too commercial and you want it to stay underground.

Also, if you want a product to be successful you need to know your market and thats a problem

yes but you guys complain that EDM will die. :) so i made a suggestion, you don't have to take it if you don't want to.
SPACEMASTERS
You guys think EDM will die when also the same people that love hiphop think the same. The new sound thats coming up is reggeton which I cant stand but everything has its phases and its time at the top.

oh well it's something different... and i don't mind change.. as long as it's not ty hiphop...

i guess since reggaeton borrows a lot of trance and house influences, I don't mind it really.

I dont get you Gerry.. I see you complaining about EDM been commercialized and therefore making EDM utter trash, and now your suggesting the same to happen?!?!.. I know and IM for everything you said, but you CANT.. you just CANT have EDM all over city without been Commercial first!!... If everyone would support EDM trust me there would be Dance music radios all over the city.. but then people will complain they want it underground.. and when it is, people will complain they want more EDM on the clubs... its either this or that ya know. Not to make an argument but to just put my .02 cents hehe.

Example.. 1999 was the year for trance on South BEach, and trance was heard on Power 96.. Power 96 man!!..

You got it! Just like the president preached on and on about WMD's and Iraq....

I know, off topic. Sue me! :toothless

I know you guys think i'm contradicting myself. I'm offering a suggestion, since this thread has become all negativity (and "oh no EDM's gonna die"). It's not something I would personally do, but it's just a suggestion if you want to "commercialize" whatever you're listening to that's so much better than what's commercial now.

Things can die either way... too much commercialism to the point the music becomes tooty fruity (example: Disco), or by obscurity.. So you need a balance..
bobba lou
For one, i dont see "all the negativity" you speak of. I think some very good discussion is going on here. In fact i think its the best damm thread since the split of the two sections. I'm tired of whos drunk whos sober, coup this, and the rest of the nonsense. Also by virtue of you saying it i know its your opinion.

Miami has a more of a market for hip hop and reggeaton that is just the way it is. I still dont think that by space doing business with the hip hop crowd on fridays will mess anything up. By no means im i attacking your ideas or getting offended by them.
