I am a super didj fanatic that has to hear the drone at least once a day and, sadly don't hear enough tribal didj, any artists I should know about??

yes I do play it as well... but nothing beats hearing others play...

I really want to get into playing one. Any advice on how to learn to play? books, DVDs? I have to still buy one.

fuzzychicken- if you're a cheap ass like me, buy some pvc. look anywhere on the internet for lengths. the lengths control the pitch (43in/2in plays "c")
i have one in bamboo and it plays D, bought it for about $20.00 (canadian eh?)

google "didjeridoo" and you'll find LOTS of resources..
but the best thing is for you to find a friend who has one and learn with him

Thanx for the help, I don't really know anyone that plays one. Yeah I herd about making them out of PVC and there are websites to show you. I was wondering if there is a really good book or site that you reccomend for learning. There is a class at my university that teaches you to play and shows you how to make one, I think. I should check it out. All my friends kinda laugh at me when I say I want to get a digeridoo. :tongue2

I tried a couple years ago ... even built myself a huge one out of bamboo but then trying to play is kind of a pain ...

Could never past the circular breathing part :(

There was this guy in the NYC subway a few years ago, don't know if he still does it, he was awesome. Can't remember his name, but I saw him on TV once, his music was pretty cool.
I tried playing it once, kinda fun I must say...

Have a listen to Xavier Rudd.

He's an Australian musician who plays blues/folk music similar to Jack Johnson.

He also incorporates the Didgeridoo into many of his songs, and it actually sound really good. :D :D

P.S. I used to think that the track Junk Project - The Red Series had a didgeridoo in it, when actually it is more like acid from teh 303 :p

P.P.S Xavier Rudd actually plays in BC quite often :p I know he has played in Vancouver and Whistler a few times.....

No, I'm not really that much into it, sorry, but yeah, it's fun. I once heard a didjeriddo player with a jazz band. Exotic.

However, it sounds like "digested" in Portuguese.

I own one, not to good at playing it, and it drives my dog and my wife insane. lol.
