Video card problem

in Far Cry

I have all the settings cranked up from the setup program it runs the first time you run the game (except antialiasing, which is off.

I also have the following commands in my shortcut to the game: -DEVMODE "r_sm30path 1" "r_hdrrendering 7".

I run the game, it runs incredibly smooth with no issues whatsoever except for the following, which appeared either when zooming in with the sniper rifle or when viewing a cutscene.

PS: I've patched my game to the second latest version and I'm running a geforce nx6600 GT.

Hmm well the only thing i can mention is that delete the drivers and get the most up to date drivers in place.

I had a problem with water in games with my Radeon 9800, the water would always look off, so i got updated drivers and installed and the problem was still there.. so i deleted the drivers and reinstalled the new drivers and it got fixed.

I dunno, maybe you can do that.

I have the latest drivers and all updates for windows. I may try the game without one of the two options I added but I want to see if there's a way around it.

If you have a spare video card, try to plug that in. That way you know for sure whether it's hardware related or not. Simplifies the equation a bit...

Poor blue has yet to post about the slowness of the forums...

Blue, make sure you thoroughly remove all old drivers before updating :) You probably did, but this is just a friendly reminder...

I would sugest you not try to increase all the settings in the game for your card or from the display properties on the desktop, any atemps at trying to overclock the card beyond its specs will cause graphic problems like you displayed there, My advice is to leave the graphical settings in there default positions and only mess with the resolution, Games run smoothly when in 1024x768 32bit with anti aliasing turned off as well as V-Sync disabled.

it's just odd that it's the only game that does it, newer games like doom 3 or half life 2 or the fear demo have no problems running maxed out.

You see, Thats the problem right there, The game your trying to run, Is too much for your video game, What you have a Geforce 6600GT, That card isn't powerful enough at the max setting, What you need is either a Geforce 6800 or the 7800 that came out, Note that the 7800 is only avalable for the PCI-Express 16x slot
