I mean, come on. I thought ESCM was a solid album, but had a bit too much filler (the clattery, loopy tracks like Memories on a Sea...). Hell, read my full thoughts about that album here.
However, today I picked up the ludicrously priced "Rare & Remixed". Jesus. This is everything trance should be, everything I like about trance and he even manages to handle vocals tastefully (except for Remember, which is ironically best forgotten). As well as atmospheric, score-esque chill albums, he can do pumping, space age trance better than almost anyone going. The man deserves a medal, and if you haven't explored some of his discography, you deserve slapping. |

| Yep, he's a real pioneer in the sound of trance. |

| Maybe, but if so, not because he makes trance. Because he's made like....2,000+ genres. |

| ESCM was first class. One of the best electronic artist albums of all time. The rest of his albums have been different levels of crap imo. |

Exactly. He's like Leftfield. It doesn't matter what genre he makes, it all seems to be gold. |

BT is a genius indeed. And agreeding with Aiwendil.. over the years BT has a decent amount of trancey material but pretty much every other genres as well.
Funny thing about Content is the excerpt of Simon Hale's Orchestrata version of Flaming June about a minute after Content has ended.. |

| I love that little touch... I always assumed it was BT's original version of Flaming June. Is there anywhere you can get a full version of that little bit? |

There isn't a real BT original of Flaming June.. there is just a BT & PvD Original Mix (9:14, album edit 8:25; compared to BT & PvD Remix 8:50 on the singles, BT & PvD Extended Remix 11:03) which is pretty much like the remix but has long downtempo intro & outro and buildup is a slightly different from the "remix" version too..
Simon Hale's Orchestrata version (5:12) is on one of the Flaming June singles, CD2 of the original batch (PERF145CD2) of the singles. And there is also a better version of Remember, a version which was originally meant to be on ESCM but BT didn't put that version on it for some reason.. it's titled simply as BT's Album Mix (7:11) which is on some versions of Remember singles. |

| He's pretty good but a lot of his productions tend to lean on the non-melodic side, which makes me have to take some points off of his brilliance. |
