Boosting Woof Power in a Car

Got 510W with two 10" subs in my truck. Not happy. Need more bump. Is it better just to disconnect my 10" or splice them together with a couple 12" woofs and about a 1000W amp? I don't know if anyone has any experience with two 10" and two 12" woofs together...
My kid is rocking the grid square with two 12" woofs and 1400W of power and I'm getting ing jealous...

| get a bigger sub box.. it'll boost your sound like you wouldnt believe. |

bigger sub box doesn't work. Every speaker has an optimum box space. I had pioneer 12" speakers that need 1 cubic foot of space behind them.
So ur best bet is to make sure you have teh right sized box, and teh right watts pumping through them. that is key. If your speakers run 250 watts rms, then power tehm at 250 watts rms. no more no less!
so make sure your matched on that and add in as many subs as you can fit. |

Y'all confused me. I have a factory installed 510W system with 10" subs. Don't do it for me. Take the subs out and put in new 12" ones or splice them with more subs and another amp? Money is not a big deal here...I can afford about anything.

more speakers = louder.
but for a truck, id pull the 10's out and stick two 12" solo barics, thsoe square ones can handle 750 Watt RMS. Which is plenty when you have 2. |

Lot of things matter. How good are the subs? What wattage do they handle? Is the box the correct size for them? Is the box ported, sealed, or bp? Where is the box facing in the vehicle? What type of amp? Is it putting out true wattage? Is the wiring good and getting enough power to the line to get the full power out of the amp?
Two twelves will definetely hit harder than two 10s of the same make considering they have more cone area and more wattage going to them. |

I think I'll try letting them install 12" power with amp and test before pulling out the 10". Probably leave them all in place when it's said and done.
Tx for input. Was wondering if anyone had done it before, but doubted it since this will be serious sound which most CORs do not have.

2 x 12"
1 x 1000-1500W amp
1 x capacitor
take the 10" out .. if you leaving the 10" in .. install a bass controller
Enjoy :) |

| Also take a look at the Image Dynamics IDMAX subs while you are looking at 12's. Amazing subwoofers. |

Yep, Tx. I'm gonna do it. Will probably leave the 10" in place. Will serious bump. Gimme a few weeks. I wanna see the 200oz 12" woofs back on sale.

| I saw on Pimp My Ride last week that they installed a 24" woofer in this guy's car, and it put out more decibels than a jet engine :haha: |

Im not reading all this cuz I dont care that much, but the tighter the space the more punch. Think vaginas when youre thinking cubic feet and how much you want (tight, optimal, too big)
not that Id know, but im pretty sure its an accurate reference.
and yes, of course more speakers will add more, but if you want more punch for an existing system its padding the interior of the box, sealing the box for accuracy, porting the box for boom, or bandpassing it for sound.
I like sealed and packed boxes with the rec'd space...Im a fan of the trapezoid so it takes up less space and gives the woofer travel room...
edit: I hope you got Deep Cycle battery before Cap, and have a decent amp @@ |
