Scarriest Movie You've Ever Seen (pg. 4)

Scary..hmm, haven't seen many of the newer 'scary' movies, as they all suck. However One Hour Photo was creepy...not exactly scary though.
The last one that scared me was The Blair Witch Project. Allthough it's a love or hate movie, it scared the out of me. Technically the movie is amazing aswell. If you read the trivia stuff on IMDB, it's neat. Oh, I guess Tesis was good..old Spanish thriller/horror.
Anybody have any reccomendations of some newer (2000 to now) horror films which aren't full of jump out and scare you CGI stuff? I'm mostly a fan of classic/indie/forigen films, so I don't pay attention to North American films. i.e The Ring, White Noise, The Grudge. Those movies were nothing but loud noises attempting to make you jump and flashy CGI. |

I get more scared from thrillers than horror. So movies that scared me all deal with me thinking that there are actually people out there that do that crazy psycho killing stuff.
1) 8mm - screwed me up for life
2) The Cell - what the guy does to the girls made me wonder if there are people that twisted out there
3) Silence of the Lambs - I mean come on, it's freaking hopkins

Linden Flowers, weymouth has some good recs that may be more up your ally.
8mm is disturbing, although not really scary, as is the Cell. Both movies are very good, the Cell being the better of the two in my opinion.
Saw is a very smart story, with excellent twists, packed with jump-out at you freights, and will leave you chilled. I would say that was one of the best post-2000 horror movies made so far. The Sixth Sense, is another great horror movie, still one of Shymalan's best. Bringing me to my next point.
There are a few movies, post 2000, that have been so close to horror movie greatness and I wanted to know if anybody felt the same way about these movies or any others.
The Village- The build up of the terror in the woods, or as the villagers call them 'the one's we do not speak of' is excellent movie making. However, the costumes ruin any possible fear or shock for the rest of the movie. The twist is indeed smart, but by no means plays of the anxiety created earlier in the movie. Its interesting to see how by simply not showing the character(s) that cause freight for our protagonists, we grow more curious and anxious. The more terrified the character(s) are of these antagonists the more fear is created in the viewer.

The Ring 2- Take away the random deer part, and the first 2/3rds of this movie is, in my opinion, very solid. The part where she is drowning her child in the tub to save him from the girl by killing him is not only terrifying, especially when the child wakes up and says 'what are you doing?!'. Imagine if the movie ended there, she kills him. It becomes a question then of did she prevent the girl from taking of her son's body and wrecking havoc on the world? Is she sane or insane, as that old lady in the mental hospital seems. Is that her future? I believe that ending would have been chilling, although I'm not sure audiences appreciate open endings. Curious as to what every thinkgs of that. |

Yeh Saw was allright. The acting was below average for the first part of the film, but everything else in the movie was great.
The Village I have yet to watch, but I definetly will have to see it.

| Confessions, Im looking forward to Silent Hill: Centralia due next year. I hope it isn't OTT and rather like other game-to-movies such as Resident Evil. I hope the plot is much along the same lines as the game. Probs one of the scariest games Ive ever played to be honest. |

well like i said, Konami is keeping a very close eye on it. However, i don't know if it is Konami of America or Japan. Either way, i think both teams are very proud and careful of their work, so i'm expecting this movie to be disturbing as , much like to whole infactuation with periods in Silent Hill 3.
From all that i know, it's just about a woman/man who is pressured by their daughter to visit Silent Hill, so they go and then all this happens. Rumors are flying that everyone's favorite gaming enemy was seen on the set, which is a really good indication of the direction of the film. high hopes should pay off this time for a film based on a video game |

| Event Horizon without a doubt, it's the only time I have ever seen people leave the cinema because they were so freaked out, like 10 people throughout the movie had to leave, including one of my friends :stongue: |
