Guster: How much is 'half a fifth of vodka?'

375 ml

I was on an empty stomach and still only moderately drunk. : (

My record without puking on an empty stomach was 13 beers.

I'm not trying to be a big burly man!!! I don't care if someone can consume more alcohol. I just thought that amount of liquor would've had me at least unable to walk straight. :(

(MR PINK posting)

I don't think i'll ever know my tolerance of JUST alcohol.

im always mixing and matching.

so, as far as my mixing goes.....my tolerance is pretty high, but not as high as I have seen (which scares me):nervous:

So you're saying in about 30 years there will be a mass epidemic of cerrhosis in England? :haha:

i used to have an insane tolerance for alcohol (being a girl - 5'4 and 115lbs)... i could drink like 10-12 beers in a night or drink what seemed like an endless amount of rail drinks, and i'd wake up feeling fine the next day. then last summer i started doing more drugs and over the last year i've become more and more of a when it comes to drinking, lol. i have to be really careful 'cause i seem to get sick and hungover way more often now. i'm sure it has a lot to do with my eating habits and losing 10 lbs as well.

i still do enjoy boozin' it up though

My tolerance is decent I guess but I had a liver problem when I was born so I'm very prone to get a hangover after a night of heavy drinking. Instead, I opt to just give a nice steady buzz that'll last all night.

i dono about under the table. maybe in the other 49 states that dont matter, but in wisconsin, you're definitely gonna find yourself some hefty competition. if wisconsin is good for anything (besides cheese/dairy products and beer) its that its residents know how to drink and know how to party.:p

I can even back you up on that. My cousins live in Appleton.. and while it's boring as , you can't go a mile down the road without seeing a bar or pub or whatever.

Ever find it funny how quickly the accent shifts, too? We stopped at a McDonald's five miles from the Wisco border in Illinois. Perfectly normal speech. I swear to god.. where does it start? Is it just a magical "I have Wisconsin citizenship so now I must talk differently" thing? Cause my aunt was born here and married a guy up there.. that was at age 25 or so and she's got the accent now too.

i dont really notice that much of a difference. i personally dont have the 'wisconsin' accent you're speaking of and i've lived here all my life. i know what you mean though. some people have that accent although i call it the upper peninsula accent. its pretty similar the the standard american and northern US accent but theres a few little twangs on some words.

btw there is to do in Appleton. states biggest mall is there, although its not that great. mayfair mall in milwaukee is a lot better. oh and theres a few nightclubs. check it out:

it's true. Wisconsin is the #1 leading state in women's binge drinking (let me know when that becomes recognized by the Olympics, i'll go for the gold!)... all my friends back in NY still give me about how much i drink (which isn't that much compared to other people in Wisco). i've been called an alcoholic numerous times, but i usually just have to explain "that's just the way it is here..."

i can't comment on the rest of the world though... i'm sure Brits can drink quite a bit. oh and one thing i noticed and wondered about from watching European movies is that they drink their alcohol straight up and room temperature, whereas most Americans mix their alcohol with ice and soda. is that true for most of Europe or is that just some silly thing that the movies are lying about?

as for the Wisconsin accent, it's more common in the backwoods rather than in the bigger cities (Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton, etc)... some people have it worse than others. my ex-bf didn't have it at all, whereas his sister had an insanely thick midwestern accent. i do catch myself saying certain things with a bit of a midwestern accent though, and i've only been living here for 3 years.

drinking is overrated...
