Hey, about what you said regarding Sasha, I will completely agree with you that he is not using the full capabilities of Live at all, but...does he have to? He uses it as a tool to acheive the sound he's looking for, and wasn't able to acheive with CDs...also, you think G&D are using it to its full potential?

no they are not, but at least they are using it more than sasha, sasha is adding the same boring drum kick in almost all his transitions
i ve seen g&d using ableton for the melody and using cdjs to mix an acapella in....
well i am not saying that sasha sucks or anything like that, but he should stop "selling" himself as a pioneer of dance music etc etc.

hes not! he's just doing his thing the way he wants to do it, it's the critics who acuse him of selling himself!

Thanks guys! For agreeing and acknowledging that live5 is nothing new and basically a different version of magix music maker. Whenever we need samples/loops or something similar to enhance a mix to a crowd where 2 ppl out of 10.000 are really hearing it we will know what to use right? Luckily, our no.1 star knows how it works and will continue to drop massive, orgasmic and groundbreaking choons without even bothering to mix them in properly just to ensure that the other 9998 ppl know that a new killer is being dropped.

Personally I dont think ing up mixes to drop teh choons is enough... the guy needs a couple of airhorns that he fires off whenever a new track is coming in. If anyone can get away with such rediculous fanfare, its him.

But back OT... I dont think Tiesto should use Ableton. He'd probably that up too.. crash the laptop or something while tring to watch porn.

Oh.. and your deluded if you think Ableton is like music maker or whatever prog you've used to do a beatmix =) Have a nice day!

Are you sure? I use Live (4/5) and have heard like...every Sasha set out this year, and he has pulled of some really sick transitions and interesting edits with Live...at least in my eyes. He used the same drum loop throughout his essential mix, but in Fundacion he doesnt nor has he in several other live sets...Fundacion is almost a huge collection of track mash-ups. I know for a fact that he is making alot of loops and cuts to acheive the mixes he wants...the G&D Live sets I have heard havn't impressed me much at all, especially considering they often pley their own tracks of which they must have all the individual parts too (i.e. endless accapella possibilities)...

i tried a demo version of ableton. actually, i didnt even try it. i just looked at it and closed it.
i prefer mixing with records, cds, and if i want full control of the music and beats, its possible to do so with the cdj1000 and a few other equipments.

i think a true DJ should spin records or CDs for now, but that will definetely change soon. and let tiesto be the way he is, let him play with records and cds, and if u dont like the way he plays it then just dont listen cz there are so many other djs out there.

but i gotta admit, since tiesto did TIC in LA everyone is obsessed about him. a day before nobody knew wut edm was and now they are playing tiesto songs like theyve been playing for the last 10 years.

OK, for everyone else who has opened ableton and thought... wtf is this... where the crossfader?

Its a sequencer m'kaaaay... NOT a beatmixing program like traktor or final scratch or whatever. Comparing it to your decks or cdjs is just ing pointless. It's not even remotely the same thing. Your better off comparing it to an 8 track wired up to a mixing desk with a sampler and an effects unit if anything.

in hell, get with the program please!!

Ableton does not equal DJ-ing. :whip:
