Windows XP - Fade Effect - I can't stand this - anyone else?

It's basically the first thing I turn off whenever I come across it because it drives me nuts - you know, fading in the menu when you Click Start->Programs / etc

wtf... i didnt even notice it until you mentioned it. i dont see the big deal. it lasts like 1/10th of a second

I'm the same.It was designed by the devil. For some weird reason we are not allowed to install styleXP at work so yes it gets turned off straight away.

i like windowblinds myself, lots of customization options.

I always get stylexp but then it just reverts in 30 days. Im not about to pay money for it so I just dont bother

u can get windowblinds for free, as long as u don't mind the splash screen that pops up when u first login.

right click desktop > properties > appearance > effects > untick the box ;)

^-- thats what i did when i first got xp. special fx are cool the first time and progressively annoying after that. set my windows explore to classic look.

You mean the black/white fading when you shutdown/reboot/sleep-modus Windows?

likewise. I want something that works with the least amount of effort involved, not something that's going to make my eyes burst out in flames just for a cheap look
