It's basically the first thing I turn off whenever I come across it because it drives me nuts - you know, fading in the menu when you Click Start->Programs / etc |

| I hate the entire XP look in mines, So I just right click my computer, then properties, Then click on the advance tab, Then click settings on performance, Then put the dot on adjust for best performance, It basically uncheck everything that has to do with the XP look and makes your desktop and every window have that Win98 style and everything loads fast. :) |

I dont turn it off, but in my defense my conputers are so slow that the start menu comes up about 5 seconds after i press the start button so i dont really get to see the fade effect:D
And i swithced to the old look some time ago anyway...still takes load of time to do anything...got to remember to buy something new soon |

classic start menu, disable desktop icons, move my documents folder, classic theme, disable effects, disable automatic updates, disable firewall... all things I do with a fresh installation.
XP is so damn ugly and stupid out of the box.
I love how stupid little things like "the fade effect" are hogging cpu cycles and RAM... no wonder XP sucks at utilizing memory. |

I've always found that if you throw the computer in a river and go fishing instead that it has a calming effect...

Still running Win2K on the home computer so none of that fading crap. My other 3 computers at the house are running XP though, but my kids use them and I only deal with it personally at work. I always like to keep the lowest supported Windows platform running for sheer speed and utility (only reason I moved up to Win2K was that Microsoft would no longer support Windows 98). Tried Linux and will never use that again in my life. I know what I'm doing, have only been using computers since they were invented.
