As far as I know it's a very fancy way of saying "glorified secretary"....kind of like a "sanitation engineer"
*EDIT*
I think they are also called "office managers" and simply "admins" in many cases... |

| A large corporation will usually title their "glorified secretaries" as Administrative Assistants and then have an administrative manager or dept./office manager who looks after those assistants. Smaller companies who cannot afford to have a designated secretary and office manager may lump the role into one and call it an Administrative Manager. I'd ask for a very detailed job description to find out how entry level and "secretary" like the tasks would be so that you know for sure. |

So not true. Maybe if you work for the city or government. The admin assistants and managers at my old company worked their asses off. Mind you, it isn't brain surgery or anything but they worked bloody hard and had to deal with s with attitudes all day. You could not have paid me enough money to deal with the that they did on a daily basis. The administrative assistant who looked after our 2 VPs always had to work late and rarely had time to take a lunch or coffee break. 'Swimming with Sharks' was her reality. |

Yeah usually you need to have very good communication skiss, excellent knowledge of MS Office (since most of the time you'll be sitting staring at spreadsheets and typing memos and etc...) and uummm...yeah the typical other stuff |
