14th and 28th of October are alright.

It's funny how club nights slowly change, who would have thought Gods would become what it has in the past few years.

Death of trance, is so frustrating when people pay a fortune to see PvD or Tiesto but these ppl don't go see the smaller names. I miss they days when clubs could put on what would now be classed a line-up and still be absolutely rammed with queues down the road.

just out of interest what would you call a decent line-up?
DJ Mikey Mike
The lineup tomorrow at Fabric looks pretty decent:

Craig Richards
Andrew Weatherall
Lopazz (live)
Headman
Ellen Allien
James Holden
Damian Lazarus
Terry Francis
Kenny Hawkes
Bill Brewster

He has been really this year. But the last couple of months have seen massive improvements in his playlists. I am quite looking forward to Passion.

Because Slinky would not have that type of djs. It is hard house and trance which i'm guessing you are not too big a fan of.

As for PvD, he was out of this world at Dance Valley and the first hour at Global. Better than the fanny trance he was playing at the beginning of the year. I'd be very tempted by Passion if i was not away on holiday. Grrrrr!

That was only an example of a lineup which I think is okay. That doesn't mean to say that is the only type of music I can ever enjoy in a club. I happen to like trance, as I have always done, a great deal. But there are no decent trance DJ's on that lineup. It's just a load of producers who hold no DJing talent alongside some crap residents. imo.

this is what gets me, trance dj wise there are two main routes in. Production or residency. Most of the big named trance djs have become big through production: Armin, Tiesto, Ferry, Marco V, Above and Beyond. Paul van Dyk is one of the few exceptions IMO.Some of the British jocks have more come through residencies; Hardwick, Scott Bond, Graham Gold, Eddie Halliwell, Adam Sheridan, Jon OBir. Therefore there is nothing wrong with producers becoming djs, the ones are weaned out by natural selection anyway

As for the Slinky line-ups i would say John O'Callaghan and SvD are the only two that would fit in the crappy producer bracket.

Btw i'm not disagreeing with you that the line-ups are by and large (although i do like the 28/10) i'm just disagreeing with your reason for why they are :p

So continiung in my quest to find out how the mind of DJ Mikey Mike works, which trance dj's would you rate at the moment?
