Oh, too sweet! I still love that tune! We need some Blank and Jones in Florida!

Alright... my review might be a little different... since this was my first time to Avalon... I'll start at the begining:

First off: Thanks to Carrie for taking me under her wing and getting me out my first real weekend out on the town. Straight kick-ass.

Carrie started the night off by calling Victor some other goofy name when we were trying to weasel our way in the front door... he didn't seem to be too "rock star" about it so it was all good..

first impressions once inside... very cool. It took me a moment to realize this was on old theatre. the steps in the front door shoulda given it away... but once inside.. obvious. I liked the darker feel... but not super dark. i could easily see where i was walking (stumbling/dancing) at all times. bar service was courteous yadda yadda yadda.

sound. obv an EAW install... ironically... eaw has an 'avalon' series.. but this wasnt it. i cant say i think the system is very well balanced in regards to frequency response in all areas of the venue/dancefloor.. but what club is i guess. it was certainly loud as hell. i'll have to re-purchase some in-ear plugs after i got wasted and left mine in detroit somewhere. OOPS!

Lights: Your typical rig of pars and ClayPaky movers... I did note that the two side screens were projected from moving head fixtures. Winging projection all over the room can be super cool. LED wall is straight dopeshow... lighting techs busted out a lot of different looks... late on some of the cues timing wise.. but there could be a latency in their computer based system... who knows/cares? not me.

Ms Sky was rocking out what i thought was an extremely well rounded set as we got there! I enjoyed it greatly as we were socializing and getting into the groove. I noticed her obvious enthusiasm while playing. I've been made fun of for really getting into things behind the decks by some folks... but i always say i started to DJ so i could dance like an idiot and no one could make fun of me. ok, not 100% true but u get the idea. Rock out KS.

B n J: These guys are clearly pros. This is my first time seeing them live, and their skill/knowledge of the tunes they were throwing down was impressive. I get the feeling sometimes that producers do a DJ tour for the $, and maybe aren't all into the DJ aspect of things... I did not get this feeling from BnJ. I will comment though.. if i hear that tiesto remix of Adagio for Strings one more time from a big name DJ i'm going to throw myself on some sharp object.

Vic kept things moving after BnJ with complete ease. I think the crowd has a lot to do with this... but everyone hung in there after the headliners. thats a tough spot to fill. we jammed the CD on the way home. I'm glad he gives me his email address 500 times.

overall great time. It was awesome meeting those of you that i got to... and look forward to meeting more of you in the near furure!
