I just got this in an email *cough* spam *cough*
| quote: | It has been calculated that if everyone in Australia did not purchase
a drop of petrol for one day and all at the same time, the oil companies
would choke on their stockpiles. At the same time it would hit the
entire industry with a net loss over 4.6 billion dollars which affects the
bottom lines of the oil companies.
Therefore September 1st has been formally declared "stick it to them"
day and the people of this nation should not buy a single drop of petrol
that day. The only way this can be done is if you forward this e-mail to as
many people as you can and as quickly as you can to get the word out.
Waiting on the government to step in and control the prices is not
going to happen. What happened to the reduction and control in prices that the
Arab nations promised two weeks ago?
Remember one thing, not only is the price of petrol going up but at
the same time airlines are forced to raise their prices, trucking
companies are forced to raise their prices which effects prices on everything that
is shipped. Things like food, clothing, building supplies medical
supplies etc. who pays in the end? We do!
We can make a difference. If they don't get the message after one day,
we will do it again and again. So do your part and spread the word.
Forward this email to everyone you know. Mark your calendars and make
September 1st a day that the citizens of Australia say "enough is enough"

| i think its time for a national protest, nobody buys gas for a week and don't go to work, that will get them thinking (and hopefully we won't get fired) |

^ because your argument fell into the "slippery slope" category. just bc there is less driving (say, 5% less driving), doesn't mean that an entire country is going to . your argument is kind of like saying that if someone smokes weed, then they'll do e, then coke, then speed, then heroin and they'll become an addict and be a complete waste of space. basically what i'm saying is that yes, in theory it MAY happen but in reality, the chances of a country's entire gdp going down so much that the country goes to is very slim to none.
why?
because bishes gotta do . people gotta get things done, live their lives. so they find alternatives. they rebuild, renew-- they find solutions.
(btw, USA is not the richest country in the world, to whoever said that. i'm pretty sure that per capibeacta, it may be Norway. not 100% sure tho.) |

Please get over it. Its nothing compared to what the other countries, poor countries and European countries have been paying past almost a decade, they have been paying this same price with 100 times lower the income, beat that to affordability and you'll see that you are still gettin it dirt cheap. Its nothing. Be happy that you got to enjoy some priveleges that no one else could. Until Now! World meets World. |
