Dear Lord why did you post that pic. :nervous:

ON TOPIC:

I saw a girl yesterday that must have had thirty horizontal scars up and down each of her arms. All just a little less than an inch long. Of course I'm assuming it was Self-mutilation but I don't what else could have caused it; it was very uniform. She was cute too.

that was the case in my experience. They feel it offers them a temporary escape from whatever they are going through. It takes their mind off it. Really sick. This girl used to just run in the bathroom and do it whenever she got upset, i had to tackle her to the floor on numerous occasions to stop her.

Its makes you feel like your getting what you deserve for being a bad person...well thats the case with me. I had nothing sharp in the car yesterday so i used the in-car lighter on my hand. I seriously wanted to do it yesterday. I was so angry that anyone who looked at me for more than a second i wanted to flip out at.
I feel like something is snapped inside of me.

Flame all you want, i dont care anymore.

i tried to tattoo myself once. it turned out looking like .
thankfully the scars went away. until today i have no idea what made me do it.

very lame cry for attention by weak minded individuals imo.

Even if somebody is attention seeking doesn't mean their problems shouldn't be taken seriously. They're attention seeking for a reason.

And yeah, I've done it...years ago and not majorly, but yeah. And this is actually the first time anybody has known about it, so it wasn't attention seeking.

cutting burning stabbing and beating myself. pretty much did it all throughout about 2-3 years ago. was seriously addicted to it and then admitted to a hospital. didn't relly help. i sorta just got bored with it

but there's a billion other ways to "cry for help". Scarring or pysically harming yourself to get other people to notice you have a serious problem is stupid. Use the power of speech.

I remember having a conversation with an older lady about this:

Me: I think it is the most retarded thing a person could do. These people have no expression other than cutting themselves? I blame the parents for not teaching their children the correct way to express their feelings. In the end it is just children seeking attention.

Lady: My daughter did it when she was a teenager.

Me: Oh

insert awkward pause of 2 minutes...

Yes but people who self-harm are ill, Nell, and lack of communication is a symptom. I can see why self-harm would be a difficult thing to understand - hell i dont even understand it and i did it! But telling people that their illness is stupid or retarded doesn't really help anyone. If you can't help, don't hinder.

To be able to use the power of speech requires:

1. Knowing what the problem is (often the biggest hurdle)
2. Insight, and a genuine drive to reach the root of the problem
3. The brute emotional strength to dredge up serious and painful problems that have perhaps been supressed for a life time. And they've been supressed for a reason (another big one)
4. The realisation that talking to someone might help
5. Somebody to talk to that will take the problem seriously
6.The ability to articulate the problem

...And others that im not thinking of...

Back in high school I use to harm myself all the time. I use to enjoy pain....nothing like cutting myself with a knife or anything. I use to hit my head on concrete walls before hockey and lacrosse games. Punch the top of pop cans until my knuckles bled. I even use to get people mad at me so they would punch me and I wouldn't even punch back...I would just laugh at them. I remember in one lacrosse game I got into a fight with a guy and he took his wooden lacrosse stick and broke it over my head. I just started laughing with a huge smile on my face. The guy didn't know what to do so he just ran to the penalty box.

Now...being much older and wiser I have no desire to hurt myself...the idea of pain hurts me
