OK, i don't think there is enough discussion about the wonderful world of goa and psytrance on TA so i thought i would dedicate a new thread to it. :D
What are the latest and greatest tracks?
What are you listening to at the moment?
What tracks can you recommend?
Any Good Livesets?
Personally, i'm still very new to psy and goa so i'm just catching up at the moment with some older stuff. :p
I still listen to my Astrix albums all the time. :p My favourite tracks are Life System, Massive Activity (Remix), Eye To Eye (GMS Remix) and FeeL.S.D. I'm also in love with the new track Astrix vs John "00" Fleming - 3rd Time Lucky at the moment.
I have also been digging Oliver Prime tracks such as Radiance, Da Korah and Velvet Sunshine, although his style is more of a compromise been normal "trance" and psy/goa.
My favourite classic track that i listen to all the time is Hallucinogen - L.S.D. [1994!]. This track is simply mindblowing and i get shivers every time i listen to it.
I still have to buy all the Shpongle albums and i want to check out albums by 1200 Mics, Electric Universe, Wizzy Noise, Cosma etc when i have the $$$ to buy some CDs.
I also can't wait to buy White Label: Republic mixed by the man himself, John "00" Fleming. :eyes: |

Livesets are kind of scarce. DJ Guy Salama does a 2 hour psytrance show a couple times per month and you can normally find those sets available online.
Personally, I was very disappointed in J00F and Astrix's 3rd time lucky. It was just so so for me. I guess I expected a lot more coming from those 2 working together but then again, I haven't really been digging Astrix's new stuff compared with his older stuff.
A couple of my favorite albums lately, keeping in my I personally love the full on psytrance sound, are:
VA - Spaceboard
VA - Goa Neo Full On (A 2 CD compilation)
Psytrain - Next Stop Planet Earth
My favorite artists are Protoculture, Silver Surfers, Prosper, and Cyber Cartel among others. Check out tracks by these artists and I think you'll like what you hear. :) |

Awesome thread man,I've been wanting to make a thread like this for awhile actually.:D
Speaking of J00F I'll be seeing him this Sunday here in Toronto and Iam really looking forward to see what he'll drop.:eyes:
Iam new to the psy world you could say,but Iam absolutly in love with it.It is like I've been searching for this music all my life.:p
I listen to alot of livestes since Iam not that familiar with specific tracks yet.but if I have to name some I'd say all songs by Astrix or J00f.
livesets: I'd say all of Astrix sets.Wizzy noise,sonkite,S-range,Vibrasphere,Dark Soho.and guy Slama.
btw can anyone tell me where I can find/hear guy slama's radio show?
lets keep this thread going guys. |

Its too damn hard to keep up with anything coming out of the psy world these days. Theres like 80+ albums released every month all with about 10 tracks on them. Its bloody rediculous! :eyes: :D Every time I turn around theres a new act or label!!
Generally I prefer the more uplifting melodic stuff. There seems to be a very slow but stead swing back to big goa style melodies of the late 90s or atleast theres more of that stuff coming out now. I really like full on aswell, but it gets a bit formulaic at times unless its done well I think.
To that end, I've been digging some of the compilations on the Transluscent and Spliff Music labels. They're bringing out some amazing stuff atm.
Prob my top 3 tracks at the moment would be
System Nipel - Russian Gangsters
Safi Connection - Love Song
Electro Sun - Demons Halo
Definately love anything by Misted Muppets, Broken Toy, Wizzy Noise too...

Hey mate
Well i can certainly comment especially from the prog psy trance side of things.
Def worthy of comment would include the following (some not even this year but as someone said above with the sheer volume of releases its very hard to keep up. Actually somewhere worth joining for the volume of material reviwed there is isratrance forums. Check them out and get on the dist list for psyreviews by damon, he does excellent reviews with no bull!)
Im loving anything from Iboga and Acdc at the moment, both had have a string of quality releases
Avalanche Vol of Sound 4
Iboga Set 5
SBK - Boderline
Haldolium - Haldolium
Nano Beat - A token to thrill
Freq - Strange Attractors
Vision & Canedy - Another Life
Kruger & Coyle - Randy Expander
Jaia - Fiction
Basically any of the past 5 wizzy noise albums as have all been awesome.
Im just going to stop but could keep on going and going. The thing i like best about psy is its all unmixed cd's hence amazing for cdj owners. For the price of 1 vinyl you get an album.
Go searching and enjoy.
