Not everyone in the place is part of this pretentious crowd you speak of. Yes, a large portion of the people there will be dressed very well and are not your regular EDM fans but seeing a house act like DD in a venue where the glowsticks are no where to be found and people are able to just chill with their friends while listening to a good set is hard to come by. The pressure for all EDM nights in this city to be a crazy night out no matter what the venue is ridiculous. Sometimes people just want to hear the music they love and not dance. Most nice martini lounges in the city play crap so it is nice to find an upscale environment that doesn't serve up the same mainstream bull. I hung out and chatted with EDM/TA friends the last time I was there to see DD and I really enjoyed being able to chat over the music while still being able to enjoy the set. I didn't expect it to be a night out like I would have at with an EDM crowd. Hey, I love to dance as much as the next guy or girl but variety is the spice of life and not everynight needs to be a danceparty. |

I try to embrace many different scenes because they all have something different to offer....And i've actually never been to Ultra. I can fully agree that the stereotype of superficiality does exist at those types of estalishments, but you could find the same amount of fault in any other scene that doesn't require a dress code. |

| Hmmm...sorry but paying $20+ and wearing dress shoes and not being able to dance to Deep Dish is just not my cup of tea...When I listen to music I don't like much distractions...If I want to talk with friends I don't need to pay $20 to hang out...that's just me though. Snobs -1 on my chances of going. |

I agree, 20 bucks is pretty steep price to sit and chat with friends. My GL gets me in for free before 11. I am not sure how I got on the guest list or their mailing list but I get all the invites thru my email. I must have signed up for their mailing list when I was there the last time. Anyways, when you get to be my age...and you want to hang out with your old friends who are not EDM fans, this type of party is definitely much more attractive than any of the other bars that they would be open to meeting at. |

i agree with you.. but i have seen them.. so people who have seen them shud not make a big deal about it.. just because deep dish is here twice this week doenst really mean you have to go to both events.. leave it to the people who havent had the chance to see them at the guv..
is super cool to listen to some music you love and be able to enjoy the show doing something besides dancing.. but think about this.. it wont be bootyshaking music.. it will be more like a loungy set.. nothing to really pump you up and make you dance.. just sweet sounds for your ears..
and i agree with you.. nice lounges deserve good djs too.. is not all about top 40 for them.. and they dont have to be hardcore partiers like us.. let them be.. i dunno some people make such a big deal about stereotypes.. live you life the way you want and let them live their lives.. im sure that people have enoiugh things to do better than making jokes or comments about people who doesnt even care about them..
somethings that everybody shud share is weed... music and pop corn.. house is music for everyone.. |

Have fun tonight. Deep Dish @ Ultra will be an amazing time. Ali & Sharam are class acts.
Unfortunately I won't be there (which is sort of ok since I did stay at Guv until 10:30 AM Monday).
