Recently my job has been piling more on more on my head and I am sick and tired. I am not going to complain anymore, its useless. I am going to do something about it.
I started looking for another job today. I have nothing to loose. I am only applying to jobs in Queens and setting my salary minimum at a higher rate. Eventaully I am sure someone will respond that is willing to meet my demands. With gas prices going crazy its not worth it for me to drive to Long Island and my cost of living has significantly increased due to my son starting school and an increase in rent.
I know many of you are in the same position I am so I urge you to do the same. It doesnt hurt to see whats out there that you are qualified for and that may offer something better to you than what you are currently receiving. Since you may already have a job you shouldnt have to be in a rush or settle for anything so in a way it leaves you with the upper hand. Stay where you are until you find something better or present any better offer you get to your employers and see if they are willing to match them in order to keep you.
What basically set me off is...we have a new person overseeing my director and she hates me. I cant proove it but I know she does. She takes everything I do so overboard its not even funny. I emailed her 1 time, ONLY 1 TIME to follow up with her on something she should have authorized and returned to me weeks ago and she called my supervisor and says quote unquote I am HOUNDING her. in bull so I know I aint getting a good raise when review time comes around so I am not even going to fool myself.
The other thing that made my situation go overboard is....the telecom department recently merged with ours and they assigned all of theyre billing, ordering and contracts to me meanwhile the person that was doing this prior to me is still her and not sitting in our department does NOTHING all day. I didnt complain, I accepted the work but began preparing my course of action. The place that I work at is a fortune 500 comapny that makes BILLIONS not millions of dollars per year and they are so in cheap its sickening. If I continue to let this to happen IT WILL. So I am in DONE! yet I remain friendly to everyone here and no one has any idea that as soon as a better offer is presented to me I will drop the bomb on them. To be honest they are going to be out of luck because my position has escalated so far I know know things and procedures that my supervisor which trained me doesnt even know so I wish them luck on that HAHAHA

How I define Work!
The actual work is easy, it's pretty mind numbing.
The truth about work is really how much bull you can put up with. I guess the higher up you go, the more bull you've put up with, thus allowing you to bull the people below you. =)

I am a firm beleiver in the more you accept the more they think they cant give you and here in this company it doesnt seem to end. I am not superwoman, but I could be for the right price ;) you know what I mean and right now the price is NOT right. Its come down to the point where I am not making ends meet. I just spent the last 10 dollars to my name on gas, I have a half a tank and I have to make it till Friday to get paid. Its just not working out, and I have been cutting corners and its still just not feasable. |

| Hey, remember me? I read your post and boy are you pissed, as you very well should be. I think your right, keep smiling and do your job and that other lady and drop the bomb on them when you find something better. You know your good at what you do, and I dont doubt it for one minute, but didn't you say something in an earlier post that you might want to move to Canada? Or do I have the posts mixed up? I cant remember that long ago. I hope you find what your looking for, because you know your not dumb!!! I think all most all TA's are very intelligent people. And we know what the deal is. |

Yea I remember you :D, I was thinking of Canada but that is still a while from now but we already started looking into it so we have some type of game plan way in advanced. The move alone is going to take a while of saving up. |

Z that is GREAT news!!! great to see that you're taking charge and doing something about ur situation. yeah i agree with what someone said about being able to take a certain amt of BS at work, but u could be in a MUCH better situation. some ppl are actaully valued at work and enjoy their jobs. that place is just trying to take FULL advantage of you, and that needs to be halted. i do agree with you that with prices going up, its not that optimal for u to be working there anymore.
actually I am starting to job hunt again too.
not to hijack your thread in any way Z but I work for the Senior Managing Partner of my company --and every piece of sensitive confidential information for the company including financials, client and employee information comes across my desk. I am finding information that is conflicting with my professional interests and beliefs/values as an employee and as a businessperson. you know how as an employee you are supposed to evaluate not only your position but how your company is faring in order to determine if there is any potential or future/outlook? well besides the fact that my job is crap, ive found out recently thru the grapevine that over half the employees are disgruntled because of the way Management handles things (even the ones who have been here the longest) -- she is too much of a micromanager and doesn’t' recognize ppl for working beyond their job description. Add to that our current clients do not have favorable views of us or her for that matter. And the company has been sued many times by past contractors and employees -- the latter of which may be occurring once again. Ultimately as an employee I totally agree with what I hear. I really don't think there is opportunity here for me to grow at all, so in my best interest as a professional I choose to leave. maybe i said too much here but i have had enough myself. -=T |

omg the front-desk person at my company, who has been here for SIX LONG years (amazingly enough) -- is FINALLY LEAVING. He's gonna DROP THE BOMB to my boss after she gets back from lunch. HOLY !!! :nervous: :nervous:
shiet, thats gonna mean its gonna be hell here for me after...damns :T but i am SO HAPPY for him...when he first told me about the opportunity a month ago he seemed so UNSURE. and I was like, "WTF -- you should be JUMPING for this...there is so much growth potential..." It was because hes only held two jobs in the past 10 yrs...but now he is moving on. :D man my boss would totally HATE me if she knew how much i encouraged him to move on...lol |
