Why are you getting rid of the Rane? :D
RANE's da
Id go with the Pioneer..............600 if you can afford it:) |

U should get the 500 because it TOTALLY rips the Vestax.. and if money persisits, get the 600, the effects are AMAZING! :)
Personally, i think that Vestax mixers arent up to club standards with so little features. |

Why do people not understand?
If you are looking for a top end mixer, stay away from Pioneer! They are e!
The only mixer you should be looking at is the Allen & Heath Xone 62. Or, if you really want to go all out, a Urei rotary or Rane rotary. There is nothing better! |

Yeah.. Pioneer are high enough quality mixers and ARE club standard. I dont think Pinto wants to spend like US$800 on the Allen & heath Xone 32 when he can get a DJM-600.
Its not like he is gonna be DJ'ing at a club where he'll need the best.. and from what i remember, money doesnt fall from the sky or this guy would be getting Rane mixers as DJTJ suggested. |

well, the allen & heath are very expensive mixers like DJ Darchinova said. now i have rane mixer but have problems with this mixer and i want to replace it. now i think more about the djm-500 because there are no such diffrence between this and the 600 only the effects. and the 600 is also expensive. |

The effects on the 600 are SO MUCH better.. just try it out at your local DJ store and see the difference between the 500 and 600 effects.. But you decide if the effects are worth an extra US$100
There are also small things which are improved on the 600.. like the cuts are 2db's lower (24db to 26db).. haha:)
there is also a sampler and beat effector on the 600
For the same price of a 600 u could get the A&H X:32 which has AMAZING effects... but i dont think this is what your looking for
The 600 should be around $900-1000
and the 500 around $800 |

| GUYS STOP ALLREADY!!!!!. I tried to post this reply yesterday but TA.com was having probs.I wish I had to stop this chat going any futher. Pioneer are CACK. PERIOD. I know this becuase I have used one extensivly, many times. After the initial novelty of the (obvious) effects wears off (and out) you will realise they are very limited, and the sounds no where near as good as an outboard effects unit. I have also witnessed two different DJM600's break/wear out (both bought at seperate times and shops), on one, the headphone pan crackled to the point that it was unbearable to use and the other had transformer problems. The fist one was only three months old!!!!! the second was 9 months!!!! All this for just £700. Bargain (not). Their sound to noise ratio is less than impressive,as is their harmonic distortion and their overall sound quality is not up the level I would expect to find at half the price. Allen and heath are sweet indeed but the price is not.having said that they are at least audio qaulity, and are closer to being better value. Vestax seem to get ripped by many people but their sound quality is among the top 1% of all mixers on the market (A+H included). And no they don't have the cheesy and limited effects the pioneer does but they are well laid out and last a damn long time. More clubs actually Vestax than any other mixer. The sampler on the 600 is nearly useless if you want your mixes to sound pro. Remember you guys, don't beleive everything big name DJ's say about mixers, because they get paid alot of coin to say these things. One last moan, somone was going on about Rane and Urei mixers. Please if you don't know the facts stay quiet. Urei was swallowed by another company many moons ago and the dissolved which means even if you could find a moxer which isnt worn to (near impossible seeing as most of them are over 10years old) getting spare parts for them is not going to happen. rane are built to last but quality wise, they only really match vestax - not surpass, and what you get for the money really isnt worth it. Finally I do not mean to insult Pioneer users out there, but there really are an abundance of better, longer lasting, higher quality mixers for less money. RANN. |

Infact my friend just purchased the blue (looks very very nice) Vestax PCV-275 a month ago.. and the sound quality is undetectable from the that and the 600. You would need a dog to make the difference out..!
The things which are good on the PCV-275 are the kill switches (which are quite small) for each eq and channel. And there is also balance on each channels an eq isolators.. But probably the best thing on it is the PCV crossfader which NEVER needs replacing.. it can take up to 1 million side to sides rather than 100,000 times on other mixers. If you plan to keep the mixer you are going to buy for more than 3 years.. get the Vestax
But i would still go the DJM-600.. the Vestax isnt that special, they should make a better monitoring system
But you would be saving around $400 if you got the PCV-275.. but i would rather get the 19-inch PCV-150 which is 4 channel and has some better options but no kill switches, separate channel balances or effects control..
but it is cheaper |

Pioneer mixers are used in clubs for all the wrong reasons. For the most part, club owners know jack about sound engineering and buy an expensive Pioneer simply because they have heard of Pioneer. They are immensely overpriced, they don't deserve to be priced at over $250, and that's just for the effects. Buying any other brand would be far better value for money - Pioneer are by far the most expensive mixers for what you get.
RANN, I'm not completely certain about this, but I believe you can still get Urei mixers, but as kits. Urei didn't actually make the components of the mixers themselves, they bought them from other companies and assembled them. I think that whoever bought out Urei kept on all the specs and so on and they will provide you with all the components needed to buid your own. But like I said, I'm not totally certain on that. |

| Darchinova (cool name, by the way) when you listen to the pioneer vs vestax in a bedroom setup you probably won't notice the difference, but the second you have to get sound amplified to anywhere near even club DB levels you will hear an obvious colouration from thr pioneer. DJTJ you are absolutely right about the reasons clubs use pioneer. really the only upside to having a pioneer is that when they do break (and they will) you walk in to nearly any hi fi store on earth (as long as you still have warranty) and they can send it away to get it fixed/replaced. I will soon be doing an my own exact audio comparisons between a few mixers (to compare harmonic distortion, dynamic range, noise floor, signal to niose ratio, etc) and hopefully I'll be able to test a DJM 500+600 and the New PCV range. As for what people go on about "oh I need 4 channels" and "more effects" and "rotary mixers are the best" ,its all bull. People like carl Cox can mix on 4 decks but what most people don't realize is that he only ever will use three channels at the same time, if that. I watched him not so long ago do a 4 and half hour set and for 90% of that time he was simply working out of two channels (yes using all four decks) and switched between tracks. On that night he had a pro intallation 8 channel (16 input) mixer but rarely needed 3 working at the same time. The bottom line is a 3 channel mixer will be enough for 99% of DJ's out there. By the way, just to be a , I think the PCV 175 is blue and the 275 is silver. You are right in that the vestax have nice features and if you really need more an outboard effects units (korg kaos pad, new vestax dynamic filter and phaser) are allways a better buy and quality ,and ultimatly allow you change it later on, rather than getting a whole new mixer. the monitoring on the vestax is a bit simple but in function it's the same as the pioneer, but it won't break in three months. Really stay away fom pioneer mixers. I don't mean to insult pioneer owners, but there are many mixers out there which are higher quality, have more fuctions, better laid out, last longer and cost no where near as much. that fat cash you lay out for them is because you are buying in to their name. The money you will save buying a vestax can go into a great FX unit or buying more choons - cos at the end of the day it's more about ability - than equipment. PEACE, RANN. |
