Seeing how even some trance "haters" have been falling for this tune, I decided to give it ago... and quite frankly this just the kind of meaningless fluff I expected it to be.
The original mix doesn't really go anywhere, the vocals are just the kind of "la la la, I love you" bs you get in every single vocal trance track.
And the S&P mix? Twinkly synths with wannabe-A&B rhythm section. How original. |

Actually I was thinking of using the track as nice minimal filler. It's no big deal really, I can chop out the vocal to make my own.
But in all seriousness I've noticed a number of vocal tracks on Anjuna that really deserve a dub. A very minimal vocal is great such as ‘Need For Cognition’ but once you start making complete sentences there really should be a dub release, IMHO.

An interesting viewpoint on the track there.
Given that this is actually anything but your typical 'i wanna feel it, take me higher' happy love song, but instead a sad story of dealing with love over distance, with a more poetic style of lyric such as the line "But when I close my eyes I can only see miles of headlights..Fleshing out the distance.." , I can't help but be curious as to what would constitute an original non 'lalala' trance song for you lyrically?

a very decent and mature reply again man (in contrast with some other producers who reply here on TA). I say again cause we had some disagreements about this track also a while ago but it never got out of hand ;)

Luminary - My World (Original Mix) This one is much deeper and I believe it expresses more what u are tryin to give through The Luminary Project (according to what u state on ur post) Amsterdam is also good but i believe fails at a point to give clearly ur targets.
Anyway man keep up and also keep up with ur Arksun project.If you would come up with an album would be perfect an album like ur older productions (One day,the astrodancer etc)

Okay, I'll admit - there are far worse tracks (especially in trance world) lyrically than this (Satellite, anyone?), however I still feel the vocals as distant somehow - they don't really give me anything to relate to. I guess that's the deal with more personal lyrics though, they might be harder to relate to.
Anyhoo, it's not really my place to comment on it since these kind of tracks don't really do anything to me in general either. |

Interestingly enough, in terms of structure this is by far the most complex track I've ever made, Luminary, Arksun or otherwise, with the most layers. If you listen carefully you'll notice how the sounds themselves are part of the meaning of the song with the lyrics, from the sense of distance and driving momentum, to the beeps of a long distance phone call...

Feeling this totally, played the vinyl for about an hour ths morning! I love all the subtle layers, as I'm sure you know as soon as you take production seriously you cant just listen to music anymore, you naurally break it down into components. However tracks like 'Amsterdam' are a joy to break down because there is always something new to find in there. Congratulations mate, a great great tune.
