In support of fellow Asian DJs I decided to download this mix and gave it a shot. I just wanna say that although I don't spin/listen to this type of trance anymore I think you did quite well. I'll give you the goods then the bads if that's alright with you.
First, the good thing is that your set is very solid. The tracks you selected belong with each other mixing a variety of uplifting synth monsters that's very AvB peak time'ish and your mixing is also very solid which explains your gig at Avalon. The overall feel of the set is good although I wasn't exactly feelin' it, fortunately that's a matter of personal and not your skills as a DJ/performer.
Now for the bad. I think your mix is a bit low in volume and the effects sound a bit "flat" (maybe it's just the MP3). I'm listening to your mix on Klipsch speakers so I was a bit disappointed by the lack of fidelity. Although trance music is supposed to be this dreamy flow of synths from start to end I found the set a bit boring. Again this is my own opinion and not your fault/flaw. I understand the nature of the music but it just felt like the songs were variations of the same themes played over and over again followed by some vocals. I hope to see you on the prog circuit someday because your mixing skills and musical taste can be a big contribution.
There, that should make up for a couple of posts on the thread.

DJ Rain,
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment on the set. Don't know why the fidelity sounds low, the actual CD sounds good. Maybe it's the mp3. No worries on your critiques either...i can take it
:)
With regards to the prog circuit, I actually do play prog when I take opening gigs. I love many types of music and don't limit myself. Trance and techno are my primaries, but I often to wander into much progressive from time to time.

absolutely awesome! it was a freakin blast to listen to this. i was interested because you jam-packed 17 songs in alittle over an hour. awesome. fantasic mixing.
i will definitely look out for your material from now on. btw also, how did you go about getting your first gig? did you know someone? im dying to get out there and play for everyone.
i espcially love the mix between EMPTY STATE and STERNENWAG 3. i had to go back and be like... whoa hold on a second.
hah.
if you would like to listen to one of my sets, i got one i just uploaded.
also, your style is very similar to mine. i read on your website that you would play prog once in a while. i do the same. but trance and lately some techno has been what i mostly play.
very fun mix. i loved it. anyway, awesome job. |

Hey there!
Thankey thankey! I was wondering if anyone caught that mix :) It's so organic, that's my approach to mixing and programming sets. If you want to download my other mixes, do let me know...there are available online to download! As for getting a gig, its all about hard work and getting yourself out there. Your music comes first. Practice yourself to death, keep up with new releases, think about the music and how they work together. Go out, know your crowd, meet the people that come out every single night. If you want it bad enough and work hard enough, it will happen.
