PvD: The Politics of Dancing 2

Is anyone else utterly appalled by how freakin' horrible this album is? I don't even think it's out yet, I just happened to catch a promo e-mail with samples of every song on the album... what trash! "Adrenaline?" Pleease! Leave it to Ferry! Way to up another one PvD!!! No good closers either... I'm not a huge fan of van Dyk, and I realize that most retail 'albums' aren't as good as livesets, but would you guys buy this? And where's the Nu-NRG?

I'm not gonna sit here and lambast pvd,but damn.....its like he rips all the other dj's for playing records of no substance and he goes and does it himself :conf: i definately don't think its as good as it could've been.

uninspired, imo.

well then you havent heard the mixing yet, its even worse. And all pvd reworks, omg those overlapping beats cancel out frequencies and original harmonics of the songs, totally raped

what was this guy thinking, for an album this heavily anticipated he could have put some more time in it, and just mix the original versions no stupid reworks!:whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:

i like pvd, but this is ubertrash
i dont understand adrenaline being on there either

It's funny to me how hyped this album was. All the PvD whores were soiling their shorts about this release. Now their silence is deafening. This is definitely one of the worst releases of the year. It's seems like he's not even trying anymore.

Seems as though a lot of people are upset with his live sets as of late as well. Do you think maybe this is a sign that he is trying new things? Possibly trying to change his sound? I cought him three times this year. 2 performances were awesome and the 3rd, in NYC Central Park, was meh... Sucks to see such a great dj just take a dive like that. I hope it is just a phase and he is coming up with something new.

Well ive had it in my car for the last 2 weeks and I think its mint. A few older tracks on there though and could really have done with being released a few months earlier.

I like the way he has edited tracks and played around with them to make them sound different and to make it better than any normal mix cd.

Anybody can just get 30 tunes and put them on a cd but PVD has done better than that and fair play to him.

If you look at the PVD interview on Judge Jules website you might appreciate how much work has gone into the album.

As for his live sets the last 1 I seen was 2 weeks ago @ Passion and he was brilliant. The whole crowd loved him and he played a blinder. Some people just haven't got a clue.

i just dont understand how people can say the central park set wasn't good. it was my second time seeing him this year and it blew away the expectations i had based my first time seeing him. i thought he played a lot of amazing tracks...he sure had my ass gettin down the whole night.

TPOD1 was a PVD-only release. It was original, you could tell it was PVD.
TPOD2 could have been made by anyone. Apart from a couple of Vandit tracks, its generic tunes that everyone is raping. (Read: Lyteo)

THATS the difference.

I am finding a strong contrast between what kids on this site are saying about this CD and what kids on other sites are saying about it, it is quite strange. I am finding that alot of people are highly recomending it, but most posts here are critical, almost angry sounding. I really wish I could separate which opinions are genuine and which ones are fueled by the TA bandwagon effect, and just get an idea that isnt based on some wierd niche snob perspective, but there is no way to tell what people are thinking when they say the things they say.

If only there were a single place around to help ppl pick which EDM to buy that wasnt fettered by the bandwagon effect

You shouldn't need help. You should be smart enough to find what you like for yourself.

everyone has some form of help, even you

even a record store is help, they are choosing what to put on the shelves after all. Discogs is help, you arent finding what you like for yourself any more than I am, you just have more time to go music hunting, but that doesnt mean that nobody is helping you. I need shortcuts not because I lack the ability to find what I like, but because I dont have the kind of time to put into persuing music releases that you do.
