hmmm let me see...
i've pretty much used some of the 3osc presets...but then again it depends on the bassline you are looking for.
Layering-wise...I usually start out with the "Short Square" preset..change the squares to saws and play around with the nobs (octaves, pulse width and speed, some detuning). I like the squares because the filter settings are pretty good. So the trick is to create like 3 or so channels with different patterns and different variations of the presets and put it all together....
Or...
For a thick bassline...work with the pure bass presets and get the sounds you like. For these I usually like to get a square or sin going on the lowest of octaves to get the umph in the sound and get the articulation through the first two oscillators with different combinations of shapes just one octave higher than the third osc.
Or...
You could always use Boobass or some samples from the internet... :-) |

I particularly like making subbass'es with the 3xOSC. It's a great tool if you work it just right ;). My favorite bassline I've done with the 3xOSC is in my Forever Today remix. I'm also trying to get some acid out of it. :D
So far, I've been able to get lucky with just experimenting with it. Various level tweaks, and filter changes make a world of difference.
don't forget to add some delay as well ;) |

for trance basses I usually do this.....
Wave - any to my liking
Detune - usually none
A-0
D-11 o clock
S-0
R-A little bit
Filter Cutoff - it really depends. Play with it.
Make the octaves for each of them lower.
That's the basic part of my basses. |

Hey. Basses can be some tricky things to make sound good. Unfortunately the FLS team has never spent a large amount of time coming up with worth while presets to realyl show off thier internal synths. So, with some work and external effects, you can get a bass to sound like this:

That would be simsynth. Its a great subtractive synth if you dont want a cpu waster sitting on your back and all you want is a simple fat sound or something of the sorts. The key to getting it to sound like that is filtering and distortion. Distortion really helps out in giving extra harmonics to a sound and pair it with a filter its even better because then you can filter out the harmonics you dont want ;).

I'm working ont his song as a demo for FLS showing off what it can do right out of the box. Should be done in a few weeks :).

Yes the 3xOsc is a pretty good Gernerator. ive seen some people making some pretty ncie trance leads and some pads. im gonna try your guys method for bass too.
Also in the Cool stuff folder check out one of pilchard * think thats his name * songs. Its a DnB song and he uses 3xOsc for a really phat DnB lead/bass. It sounds real nice.
And i found if you tweak the 3xOsc preset Hoover you can get some cool/funky sounding bass's.
I also found alot of Fl's generators like Wasp and Dx10 * I think its called* has some pretty nice presets. You can also tweak them even more to sound beter. |

Hey. No problem at all :). I'll make a tutorial for a lot of the sounds after I finish the whole song. Just some insight to thesong, its more of a demo than a song going through some different styles and themes but mostly holding a similar feel to it. Also, think BT style effects coming from FLS ;). It all just takes time and its unforunate people are willing to just sluff FLS off as a 'toy' or 'beginners' program only because they arent willing to dig past the very easy to use interface. All in good time though ;).
[NOTE:] I should have specified better when I said 'external effects' in my previous post. What I meant was external to the included synths in FLS. I'm only using effects bundled with FLS.
