| @ isoterra, yeah i totally agree with you......all these competitions are always very close.......so it just shows that everyone who enters are very good dj's.......since i started taking part in these competitions i've never seen anyone win by a big margin......and i've never seen anyone that had a very low score either. |

I've deleted my scores file, but it's not too hard to remember what I scored so here goes....what I'm about to write applies to all the dj's who participated in this contest and although I won't win any friends with my comments please don't take them personal:
The majority of you did very well technically in your sets (i.e. volume leveling, beatmatching, cueing, etc). In fact I gave all of you guys 90's and above. The only part where you failed to get my attention was at the originality section. All the sets' build sounded similarly plateauic in nature. There was no sense of direction, structure, and flow to any of the sets with the exception of Vd's and Evelon's mixes. Deejaying is a lot more than slapping a couple tracks together in sync. DJ'ing is an art where you learn to understand people's responses to your set and make the appropriate changes. It's being able to forecast ahead of time what will work and what won't. Ultimately, you either have this gift or you don't. And remember, a set on the very least must be enjoyable no matter what mood you are aiming whether it is epic, ambient, high-nrg, uplifting, hard, and so forth. |
