What could have been a night of tragic events at the Guv and for our dear Mark Oliver turned out A okay!
So my night started off by having my cousin call and say we have a friend (Danielle) here from Scotland we need to take her out on her last night, therefor we are going to the Guverment, no ifs ands or buts.
We get there things are going as usual, jammin on the skybar then we head down to guv about 12:30 where Mark was just rippin it. Tune after Tune for the whole night.

and so many more, I just cant think of 'em all right now.
SO then later on I go up to say hi to Mark and tell him we have a friend here from Scotland (his home country for those who didn't know), and he immediatley says you cant come in, there have been some major problems, a speaker almost dropped on my head, and runs off. He then comes out to say hi and explain what happened:
While spinning Paul Van Dyk's The Other Side one of the monitor speakers came lose (its supposed to have 10 screws holding it in, there were 2!!)fell out and nearly landed on his head and as he said "it probably would have killed me", the thing weighed a ton. And the Ironic part about it was: This is his quote "I was spinning The Other Side, and I was about to end up on the other side, and mixing into it was Nalin and Kane's Open your Eyes, which is one of the biggest club anthems out there, how weird would that have been for those to have been the last 2 songs I ever spun?" hmm kinda weird I think.
Anywho, the short and the long of it is that Mark our beloved DJ is okay and lucky as well none of the equipment/decks got damaged. He was unable to mix properly for the rest of the night because he no longer had the monitor speakers, and he said he was struggling, but I think you did a fine job considering and I'm sure the rest of the FRC would account to that.
Thanks again for a great night out, MO solo nights are always the best, and for showing "Danielle from Glasgow" the booth and chatting it up with her, it made her night.
God job FRC for holding it down yet again, without all of you it just wouldn't be the same.

sick sick night!!!
didnt expect the rest of the FRC to be there...but they were and that was just one of the many lovely lil things that just worked out last night. Mark simply owned it..
tune of the night - Nu-nrg - Energise (HOLY ...in crowd simply lost it)
Zone the next morning owned...caught 4 of the 5 hour deko-ze set...too tired to type..

obviously the rest werent put in or perhaps they vibrated out over the course of many years. Either way, a back up safety chain would have prevented it from giving way completly.
The staff at guvernment are very competent people so there must be a viable explanation for this.
See? this is why i like resident only nights. Much much more excitement (and better music and fewer posers) than most guest nights!! |
