^^^ agreed...his track selection sucks, all his own tracks sound way yo similar and it just seems he puts no effort into anything..but yet he still gets the #1 spot, so he aint complaining

Are you serious?

Have you heard tiestos productions?

Out of all the trance djs, he is the only one who does not have a distinct sound. Please do not give me that because you know its so far from the truth. Especially if you like mr van dyks productions who has used the same bassline from 1999. Yup i am sure traffic sounds the exact same as suburban train which sounds the exact same as his new allure track. Good grief.

And for all those trashing him i find it funny that probably only a few of you have actually heard or seem him recentely to even make such judgements.

Quit trying to be cool on here but jumping on a stupid bandwagon you know nothing about.

I laugh at people like jp who hate this guy but yet love armin or pvd to death when there exactly in the same boat.

Have you heard a armin or paul set this year? It all sounds exactly the same. There playing techno and progressive? Not even close.
There playing watered down trance is what there playing jp.

Dont even get me started on armins new artist album and pauls mix cd. You can already tell by hearing everyones review on here that both of them are utter dog .

I just find it funny how he gets so much attacks on here but the other superstar names are just as bad if not WORSE than he is.

So... PvD and Armin are playing trance at the moment. Of course, the whole trance scene has been this year. And one of the reasons is Tiesto. People in the clubscene stop listening to trance because they don't feel connected to this commercialized crap. Just take a closer look at how many TA's are now listening to techhouse and proghouse. They ran and found a new haven. Remember, it's the main reason the hardcore scene died: wannabee's that 'discovered' the music ruined the underground feeling so the older ravers stopped going to parties and buying records. At the same time cheap productions flooded the market since people find out you could make lots of money with it.

Tiesto crossed the line between being a DJ and enjoying it and becoming an attention whore. It's just really annoying.

armin is poo I concur, but PvD, whilst better than armin and tiesto by miles, is still far behind most of the smaller names I have heard in the past year.

the era of the super-dj must come to an end!

OK, I've seen Tiesto twice in the last 12 months. First was Central Park and he sucked. There was absolutely no flow to his set whatsoever. My girlfriend and I had been to a Grammy Party at Crobar NYC the night before to see Sasha, PvD, DJ Rap, David Morales, and some others. After having seen that, Tiesto a huge letdown. We spent a decent portion of it sitting on the bleachers because he couldn't even motivate us to dance. The second time was Ultra in March. He was also awful there. Even Oakie was much better, then Junkie XL kicked ass, then Tiesto killed all of the energy that JXL had created. We left after 45 minutes-1 hour to find someone who could mix and found the Carl Cox tent.

I have also seen Armin and PvD a few times during the same span. Armin was a bit weak at Ultra and PvD wasn't great at Central Park a month ago, but even their poor sets were better than either time I've seen Tiesto.

Yeah... because those genres are nothing like trance, right?

Some nice arguments going on, have to say I agree with them all for different reasons. But to sum up, I'd say you've gotta completely ignore Tiësto, PvD and Armin and listen to Sasha, Digweed, Kleinenberg etc.

God I'm pissed. Brilliant thread tho.
jp
I should stop being involved in Tiesto threads. It's unhealthy

one must be really damn naive to say that Tiesto sucks and Armin and PVD are great. Since all of them have gone downhills alot during the last couple of years. PVD is far from the PVD he once was. His latest album proved that he is more a producer of eurodance than trance. And his TPOD2 just showed that he copypasted Armins tracklist.
No wonder people say that trance is dead.

Yeah I would agree with a lot of people saying that Trance is kind of dying, well at least the trance we knew. I was a big Oakenfold fan, and then I saw him twice and both times he sucked. After that I saw Tiesto. The first time I wasn't that impressed. Last summer I saw him again (three years later) and I genuinely enjoyed his set. He played a lot of his own productions and some others (from 2003 on). Since then I think he's kind of gone downhill, as well as Armin and PvD. I think Ferry Corsten is the one that has yet to go the direction these guys have. I have yet to see him, but from all of the reviews about his sets, he still seems to be popular. I really hope that trance continues to progress though, and I bet that it will sound completely different in another five years. I think by that time they will probably be retired, and some of the lesser known DJs and producers will rise up. Tiesto will be on some remote island smoking and drinking with skanky hoes around him, PvD will be at his house listening to old skool techno and new order and also drinking, and Armin will be putting his law degree to good use by being a lawyer somewhere in the Netherlands.
