even if cigarette companies go out of business (which wont happen) it doesn't matter - cigarette companies have many many other interests, e.g. Phillip Morris owns Kraft Foods.. so if cigarettes go - Mr. Morris will be quite fine.
P.S. thats right, every time you buy KD or Kraft Singles or Salad dressing, you're putting money in tobacco dirty hands |

actually everytime you buy smokes more money goes into dirty government hands then it does into tobacco hands.
I hope none of you do illecit drugs because if yout think tobacco's hands are dirty, you dont even wanna know where your pill came from.

big name corperations have added chemicals to foods to make them more flavourful and keep consumers coming back. MSG is known to have detrimental health effects for example. So i guess food companies are next on the list? |
No. it would be impossible to target ONE food and correlate it to specific health care expenses.
Further, there is a big BIG difference between a company adding something to make a product more flavorful and a company adding something to make their product chemically addictive. |

Tobacco, alcohol, and gambling don't belong in the same category, jay.
Alcohol and gambling have benefits, namely feeling kickass and winning money, and what does smoking get you? It stops you from jonesing, at most. |

cigarettes make people feel good too. Without them they feel lousy. Same thing with those addicted to alcohol, gaming, certain foods, caffeine. You name it.
And most of the time you lose at casinos. |

Please explain to me how caffeine drives health care costs. |

well... caffeine speeds up the heart rate and is known to help cause hypertension which can lead to strokes and heart attacks.
Id say there is a detrimental effect right there.
And those who are hooked on caffeine go through withdrawel symptoms just the same as those who smoke or drink.
So id say we have our next lawsuit for the province right here.
watch out red bull! The government is coming! |

You're stretching, and you know it.
85% of lung cancer is caused by smoking and smoking alone.
There is just not another comparable product out there that is so largely responsible for such obscene health problems. Hypertension and strokes are also caused by drinking, diet, and stress. |
